The Stamping Station — Something Old, Something New

By | June 21, 2026

Welcome to the Stamping Station Blog Hop for June! We’re a group of worldwide demonstrators that get together on the third Sunday of each month to inspire your paper crafting. This month, our theme is “Something Old, Something New.” I decided to combine one of my old favorites – the Palms Dies with several of my current favorites – the Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper (DSP), Sunset Shimmer Paper, Sunset Coast Dies, and Fabulous Sayings Stamp Set.

I love combining old with new products! The Scenic Coast DSP is so gorgeous and makes a perfect background for the palm die-cuts! This adds a whole new perspective to using this paper. And, the Palm Dies are one of those great sets that I will keep forever. The huge palm tree die-cuts and grassy foreground are classic tropical shapes that really appeal to me.

I cut the palm trees out of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper so I could add a little bit of watercoloring. I still wanted them to be mostly white so they’d stand out, but bringing in both Strawberry Slush and Gorgeous Grape from the background makes the card look more cohesive. I also splattered the palm trees with a Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blends Marker.

In the foreground, I used the Palm Dies to cut two grassy shapes from Scenic Coast DSP and then I used a Blending Brush to add Gorgeous Grape ink to shade them. Again, it brings in that artistic vibe from the background paper.

Next, I die-cut the sunburst using the Sunset Coast Dies from Sunset Shimmer Paper. The circular “sun” shape was surprisingly from the Palm Dies and it fit perfectly! I cut one from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and another from Sunset Shimmer Paper to layer on top. I painted the watercolor paper with Strawberry Slush and Crushed Curry ink, but by layering the shimmer paper over it, it ends up looking very subtle.

I felt like this card needed a big bold sentiment to go with those big palm trees, so I chose the Fabulous Saying Stamp Set. I heat embossed the sentiment in white on Strawberry Slush Cardstock and then cut the words apart to stack in a focal area. (The sentiment itself would have crossed the whole card and not looked right.) I used that same stamp set for the greeting on the inside of the card too, along with another watercolored Palms die-cut.

I hope my card inspires you to mix something old with something new. It’s a great way to spark your imagination. Click below to continue on through the rest of the blog hop this month.
