#TGIFC590 — Sketch Challenge with Butterfly Flight Bundle

Welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week our theme is the sketch below with shadow die-cuts and a banner sentiment. Not that it has anything to do with the sketch, but ‘ve been having so much fun learning to hot foil that I was ready to break out and start designing some cards of my own. So I decided to use the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies to play with this sketch. Hot foiling a little addicting! Once I created one card, I just wanting to create more and try new color combinations.

I ended up designing two cards because I was playing with colors for stenciling the butterflies. For this first one, I used Bubble Bath (Mask 1), Lost Lagoon (Mask 2), and Blackberry Bliss (Mask 3) with gold hot foiled butterflies on Basic White Cardstock.

The Butterfly Flight Dies include some cute leaf dies, so I used them to create stencils to add to the Paper Medley Mix In Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I used for both cards. For this first one, I used Crumb Cake ink to add the leaf images and give the card some movement.

For the shadow die-cut effect, I used Bubble Bath Two-Tone Cardstock and Spotlight On Nature Dies.

Then, I used the negative Spotlight On Nature die-cut on the inside of the card along with one of the additional butterflies. To finish the front of the card, I used a couple retire ribbon/trims that I had in my stash and some clear Shimmering Dots.

For the second card, I used a color combination of Balmy Blue (Mask 1), Azure Afternoon (Mask 2), and Misty Moonlight (Mask 3). This time, I used Balmy Blue Two-Tone Cardstock for the Spotlight On Nature circle die-cuts and I flipped the sketch to vertical.

I used the other leaf die from the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil Dies to create a stencil and added a border to the card front with Misty Moonlight ink.

Here’s a look at the inside. All the sentiments on the card fronts and insides are from the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies. Each time I hot foil them, I get a bunch of sentiments that I can choose to use. I’ve got a bag of saved ones for the future.
