#TGIFC588 — Inspiration Challenge with Begonia Belle

Happy Friday! For this week’s TGIF Challenge, we have the inspiration photo below. I love the monotone colors and watercolored stripes in the background. This would also be great inspiration for a set of cards to give as a gift!

For my project, I decided to watercolor my own stripes and use the July Product of the Month — the Begonia Belle Stamp Set. You can purchase this stamp set for only $5 USD (while supplies last) when you place a qualifying order of $75 USD. (As of yesterday, it was still available.)

This particular stamp set involves two-step stamping. It’s fairly easy to align the stamps and the results are very realistic. For mine, I stamped with Blackberry Bliss and Berry Burst ink (full strength and stamped off once to lighten the color.) Afterwards, I used a small Water Painter to soften the lines and transitions. I’ve also seen great results after giving the stamps a little spritz!

To create the background, I cut a layer of Basic White Cardstock bigger than I’d need so I could watercolor the Fresh Freesia stripes and then trim it down later. That way, I could ensure the color was nice and even and I got rid of any funny business on the edges.

Also, I tore the edges of both the background layers. To ensure I tore in a straight line, I scored the tear marks first and then used a Bone Folder to really work the score lines before I tore. That made it super easy!

Final touches included some Berry Burst leaves cut with the Boutique Blossoms Dies, a silver sentiment created with the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies, fancy bow tied with Berry Burst Shiny Ribbon and Fresh Freesia Faux Velvet Ribbon, and some Frosted Iridescent Dots (retired.)

The inside includes a few more of the Sweetly Sentimental die-cuts.
