#TGIFC354 — Color Challenge

For this week’s TGIF Challenge, we are using a color combination of Soft Sea Foam, Smoky Slate, and Calypso Coral. OK, is it just me, or is this a really unique color combination? I NEVER would have thought of it on my own, but when I pulled out all the ink pads and looked at them together, I was pleasantly surprised!!!

I decided to use a cute new Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Driving By. You can earn this stamp set for free through the end of February with a qualifying purchase of $50. It’s a quirky, fun stamp set that includes these cute VW vans.

When I’m designing cards for color challenges, one of the first things I do is check my stash to see what I’ve got in those colors. I found some Smoky Slate Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper (DSP.) This is another $50 Sale-A-Bration product that’s so cool. I also found some Calypso Coral Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper with cloud designs and Stampin’ Blends Markers in all three challenge colors!!! Wahoo, I was ready to go!

I stamped the three vans with Memento ink and colored them with Stampin’ Blends. Tip: Leave some white highlights and use a Color Lifter to blend into the highlights.

To coordinate with the “driving” theme of my card, I found some Vellum Layering Designs paper with a map pattern. So I decided to create a banner with it. Perfect!!!

Then, I pulled out some Pattern Party DSP (this is a host item in the back of the Annual Catalog) with black and white flowers. When I think of VW vans, I think of the 60s and flowers definitely went with the vibe. So I cut out the flowers to decorate my card.

My final touch was some cute Polished Dots. Did you notice these in the January-June Mini Catalog? I’ll be honest, I didn’t initially, but I got some in a recent Artisan Box and realized how awesome they are. They’re pretty and they basically coordinate with everything. I’m definitely ordering more.
