The Stamping Station — CASE the Catalog with Shimmering Scenes

By | July 19, 2026

Welcome to the Stamping Station Blog Hop for July! We’re a group of worldwide demonstrators that get together on the third Sunday of each month to inspire your paper crafting. This month, our theme is to CASE the catalog. CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything. So in other words find something that inspires you in the catalog, copy the things you like, change it with some personal touches, and share it with others to spark even more creativity!

My project features the new Shimmering Scenes Bundle and Sweetly Sentimental Dies. They are both products that work with the new Hot Foil System! This was my first time giving the new Hot Foil System a go and WOW!!!! I’m totally in LOVE!

I love the outdoors and the mountains, so the Shimmering Scenes Bundle was the first hot foil die set in my cart. The field of flowers really stood out. It reminded me of our beautiful trip to Colorado last year during the wildflower season.

The card I’m CASEing in the catalog is from page 56. It’s another one of my favorites. I particularly love the green foreground, purple mountains, and soft pink sky. So I picked a very similar color palette for my CASE.

I experimented a couple times and got the best results by cutting a piece of Basic White Cardstock larger then I’d need (so I could trim it down later) and hot foiling the flowers first. That allowed me to use a Stampin’ Positioner to very precisely stamp the scene over the foil. However, I caution you to wipe the excess ink off the flowers before proceeding to any subsequent stamping. I learned the hard way that ink lays on top of the foil that quickly transferred to my fingers!

I stamped the meadow with Granny Apple Green and Old Olive. I inked up the stamp with Granny Apple Green and then used a Sponge Dauber to add Old Olive ink to the bottom portion prior to stamping. For the trees, I inked up the image with Peaceful Pine and then added a little Secret Sea ink towards the bottom. And then I did the same with the mountains, starting out with Fresh Freesia over the entire stamp and then using a Sponge Dauber to add Berry Burst ink to the bottom. For the sky at the top, I inked up the stamp with Bubble Bath and used Fresh Freesia to add a bit more color to sections of the top.

After stamping the scene, I used a small Water Painter to very lightly paint over the images with clear water. I love this technique with DistINKtive stamps. It slightly blends the stamped images and brings the colors to life! Also, I discovered that I could use a Water Painter to correct any small gaps between the stamped images.

Lastly, I used a Peaceful Pine Stampin’ Blend Marker to add a little bit of splatter.

The greeting on the card front is from the Sweetly Sentimental Dies. That is a GREAT set, because you can both hot foil the greetings and then die-cut them all at once. And, there are cool little squares to help align the cutting die that make it really easy. After cutting out the sentiments, I ran the cutting dies over Crumb Cake Cardstock to cut the layer underneath.

The Shimmering Scenes Bundle also includes the hot foil dies to create the trees on the card front and inside. After hot foiling them in gold on Basic White Cardstock, I watercolored them with Peaceful Pine, Granny Apple Green, and Pecan Pie ink.

To finish the card, I added a layer of Country Woods Designer Series Paper and some old retired Braided Linen Thread. This card is for my husband to give to a guy friend, so I wanted to keep it very masculine.

I LOVE my first project with the Hot Foil System. I found it quite easy to do after watching Stampin’ Up!’s YouTube video. It’s very cool to have another technique at my disposal that looks so amazing and professional. I’m a BIG fan already and so glad I bought it!

Be sure to continue on the rest of the Stamping Station Blog Hop for even more inspiration.
