Welcome to the April Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is Technique Triumphs. I love techniques, so it was actually hard to pick just one! You know I love watercoloring, so I thought I’d focus on some non-traditional ways to add watercoloring to your projects.

My card features the Paper Florist and Gorgeously Made Dies. Both are big favorites and they’re retiring at the end of this month, so I saw this as a welcome opportunity to use them again. (In all honesty, I’m stashing both in my “keep forever” collection because I love them that much.)

I cut the flowers out of colored cardstock and then watercolored the cardstock to give the die-cuts dimension and color variation. I cut the large flower from Peach Pie Cardstock (one of the new 2024-2026 In Colors) and watercolored it with Calypso Coral ink. The center is cut from Calypso Coral Cardstock and watercolored with the same color ink. I cut the medium-sized flower from Basic White Cardstock and watercolored it with Peach Pie ink. The center is cut from Calypso Coral Cardstock and watercolored with the same color. Finally, I cut the smallest flower from Calypso Coral Cardstock and watercolored it with the same ink color. The center is cut from Basic White Cardstock and watercolored with both Peach Pie and Calypso Coral ink. For that last one, I watercolored the paper first and then die-cut the circle to ensure I maintained the pronounced dots. (Sometimes, watercoloring after die-cutting can cause them to flatten.)

After all the pieces dried, I used a Bone Folder to shape them before assembling. You might call that another technique.

In the background, I pre-painted some Basic White Cardstock with both Peach Pie and Calypso Coral ink and then die-cut the large Gorgeously Made sprig. The smaller one is cut from Lemon Lime Twist ink and then watercolored with the same color ink.

I cut the layer in the back from Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper. I particularly love the gold foil grid on this design! That paper pack has lots of great neutral prints that are perfect for adding color. After die-cutting the left edge with the Gorgeously Made Dies, I used a Water Painter to watercolor the center with Azure Afternoon ink. Then, I added splatter with a matching Stampin’ Blends Marker.

The sentiments on this card are from the Perennial Postage Stamp Set. I made this for my sweet Mama and they were perfect!
