Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for March. This month, our theme is creative ways to use ribbon! This is going to be a fun one!!!

I’m still having so much fun playing with the Waves of the Ocean Suite Collection that I decided to challenge myself to find fancy ways to add ribbon! I say it’s a challenge because this isn’t the first suite of products that would pop into my head when thinking of ribbon. But that’s what makes crafting fun!!!

Ribbon Wave:

For my first card, I decided to unravel some White 3/4″ Frayed Ribbon and use it to enhance my wave with a little more “sea spray.” It was probably a crazy idea, but fun to try. I cut the top off a strip of ribbon and then pulled out individual strands. Adhering the strands was the hardest part. I ended up pulling apart mini glue dots to form little tiny pieces that I could hide under the thicker parts.

In addition, I created a fancy bow by cutting some Denim Ribbon in half lengthwise and adding a Linen Thread bow on top.

For the card itself, I stamped and embossed the wave in white on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. (Tip: Use a Stamparatus to stamp multiple times on the porous watercolor paper to ensure good coverage.) Then, I watercolored the image with Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point, and Night of Navy ink. Afterwards, I cut out the image with the largest Layering Circle Die. I also cut out some decorative Sea Dies from watercolor paper and painted them with similar colors, as well as Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight ink.

In the background, I added a few strips of the gorgeous Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper. I embossed the sentiment on one of the sheets as well. (Tip: To give the label some structure, I backed it with a second label cut from cardstock.)

I love the artsy feel of this entire collection, so I thought the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder would coordinate well to give the card base a little texture.

Ribbon Strip of Frothy Sea Foam:

For my second card, I took the White Frayed Ribbon from the first card and pulled a few strings to gather the ribbon and create a strip of “frothy sea foam.” The frayed top edge that I had created when I pulled out all the strings for the first card made a really cool effect! To adhere the gathered ribbon, I used Stampin’ Seal+.

The rest of this card is similar to the first . I embossed the wave in white and watercolored it. This time however, I cut out the wave. On both of my cards, I also added die-cuts using the beautiful Blue Foils Paper. I used that same paper to cut the details of the clouds.

The final touch on both cards was to add some Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels.
