Stamping Sunday Blog Hop — Best Dressed Meets the AC

By | February 9, 2020

Hello and welcome to the February Stamping Sunday Blog Hop!!! I’m so glad you could join us! This month’s theme is to combine a stamp set from the January to June Mini Catalog with other supplies from the Annual Catalog. Well … I totally misread that one. Whoops! I did manage to combine supplies from the two catalogs, but I forgot to start with a stamp set from the Mini.

For this blog hop, the designers have two options. 1) We can design cards for Beginner, Casual, or Avid Stampers, or 2) we can design a 3D project and a card. This month, I chose option 2.

When I came up with my concept, my mind was on Valentine’s Day treats. I thought it would be fun to combine the darling Best Dressed purses (created with the All Dressed Up Dies) with the Meant To Be and Well Said Stamps, as well as the coordinating Stitched Be Mine and Well Written Dies from the Annual Catalog. Each purse is filled with chocolate candies.

I think these dies are sooo cute! I particularly love the little buckles and buttons. I used Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper for a couple of the purses, because the colors were perfect for Valentine’s Day!

All Dressed Up Dies (# 151665 — $35.00 USD)

I like to assemble 3D projects with Tear And Tape Adhesive. It’s super strong to permanently hold seams together, even when they’re under pressure (because they are filled with lots of chocolate candies!) I even used that adhesive under the handles.

Because I wanted the purses to be the main event, I kept the decorations to a minimum. I created a small tag by embossing a Well Said stamp in white on Gold Foil and then cutting it out with an All Dressed Up die. To shorten the die, I cut out one side and then re-positioned the die to cut out the other side. Just give the die a little wiggle to make sure the stitching lines up. It’s actually pretty easy to do!

For my next purse, I embossed the purse die cut with the Tuffed 3D Embossing Folder to make it look quilted. Then, I filled the pocket with tiny heart from the Stitched Be Mine Dies.

I also used Dark Lovely Lipstick and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends Markers to color a white Best Dressed Tassel.

For my last purse, I pieced together some of the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper for a slightly different look. I also used a shortened label, similar to the first purse.

Beautiful Friendship Card

For my card, I combined Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper with the Beautiful Friendship stamp set. I thought the flowers looked very similar.

To stamp the roses, I inked up the stamp with Petal Pink, stamped off once, sponged some Lovely Lipstick ink directly onto the stamp for shading, and then used an Aqua Painter to add a little water to the stamp before stamping on Whisper White cardstock. Then, I added the Daffodil Delight centers. I used a similar technique for the leaves with Mint Macaron and Old Olive ink, and the other flowers with Daffodil Delight and Lovely Lipstick ink.

The background also includes a layer of Lovely Lipstick Cardstock and a Stitched So Sweetly Die Cut.

Final touches include a Best Dressed Tassel, some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels, and a sentiment created with the Well Said stamp set and Well Written Dies.

Mixing up products from the January To June Mini and Annual Catalogs opens endless possibilities for creative projects. I had so much fun creating these!!!

I’m on board the “love those bags” train! And, you’ve used one of my favorite stamp sets – Beautiful Friendship. It’s as if it was made for the designer paper! They are perfect together on your card.

Stunning projects. I have to confess I had been somewhat unenthusiastic about the Dressed Up dies despite the endless parade of projects all over the place, but your interpretations have changed my mind. And your card…! Gorgeous! Thanks for the inspiration.
