Holiday Table Decorations

By | December 26, 2019

On Christmas Eve, we spent a wonderful evening at my sister-in-law’s house. We fondly call her “Martha Stewart,” because she ALWAYS has a gorgeously decorated table and cooks dishes that would rival any Master Chef.

I’m afraid to admit that by comparison, my talents are sorely lacking, OR you could just say that my talents lay elsewhere. I AM good at baking desserts and fattening food! Haha! I’m also good at paper crafting, so I volunteered to make some gift tags for the treat bags on the table.

My sister-in-law had purchased treats that we planned to wrap in cello bags and add a tag for each place setting. I designed the tags to match the colors of the plates. Considering we coordinated this over the phone with photos, I think I did a pretty good job!

My tag design was inspired by Tammy Wilson, who created some gorgeous tags for the TGIF VIP Pre-Party Event in Las Vegas back in November. I had helped her tie the tags on the event gifts, and loved the simple, yet elegant layout. (The link goes to some very similar tags she designed for a TGIF Challenge.)

To create these tags, I used 2″ strips of Mint Macaron Cardstock that I punched with the Delightful Tag Topper (149518) and dry embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.

For the circle layers, I used both the Layering Circles Dies for the Gold Glimmer scallop and the Stitched Shapes Dies for the Whisper White circle on top. Then, I used Peaceful Boughs stamps and Mint Macaron ink to stamp the background (stamped off once to lighten the color) and added splatter with a Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Write Marker.

Next, I used the Beautiful Boughs Dies to cut the branch out of Shaded Spruce Cardstock and added Snowfall Accents Puff Paint on top. Just heat set and watch the magic! That stuff is so fun to use!!!

My sister-in-law specifically asked for a Merry Christmas greeting, so I used one from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. After embossing it in white on Cherry Cobbler Cardstock, I used the Beautiful Boughs Dies to cut it out. Final touch was a Jingle Bell tied with some Linen Thread.

Hope you had a great holiday too!

These tags are absolutely stunning! Your attention to detail in the design and construction is amazing. Your sister-in-law is lucky to have such an artist as you on hand! Bravo you!
