#TGIFC286 — Inspiration Challenge

By | October 16, 2020

It’s TGIF time! This week, TGIF Challenges has an inspiration challenge using the photo below. I have to say that I really love challenges like this, because I know that I NEVER would have dreamed up this card on my own without the inspiration, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out

When I first saw this challenge, I was a little stumped. It’s definitely not my typical style. At first I was fixated on the farm element, but when I started focusing more on the graphics — the rustic wood element and neutral colors — I started getting ideas!

I selected a couple different sheets of In Good Taste Designer Series Papers, one for the background and one for the oval die cut. Then, I pulled out my Mountain Air stamp set and stamped the mountains with white craft ink on Early Espresso Cardstock. I liked the way it looked, without embossing, so I left it like that. The faded, white craft ink almost has a little blue tint.

Then, keeping the neutral color scheme in mind, I stamped the trees with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock and cut out a detailed tree from Whisper White Cardstock.

I added two additional white elements … a Word Wishes die cut for the “Happy” greeting and an In The Woods leaf die cut using Festive Felt. Fun, right?

I stamped the rest of the sentiment using a Well Said stamp. Then for the bow, I unraveled some Braided Linen Trim and tied a rustic knot.

I might have struggled in the beginning, but in the end, I love how this card turned out!
