Our TGIF Challenge this week is my all time favorite, E V E R … watercolor!!! Watercoloring is my “go to” coloring technique. Maybe it’s because I love water so much (being a So Cal gal and swimmer), but I just love the look, the artistry, everything about watercoloring. So when I saw this challenge, I was in heaven.
My card features the Timeless Tropical stamp set and coordinating In The Tropics Dies. Now that the weather is getting warmer and Summer is approaching, I’ve been spending a lot of time outside in the backyard enjoying my pool and swimming laps. I’m also really getting in the mood for a tropical escape. I’m going to be SO HAPPY when the world gets back to normal and we can travel again for fun!!!
For all the watercoloring on this card, I used Pigment Sprinkles on Shimmery White Cardstock. I’m so sad that Pigment Sprinkles are retiring, because I adore the vibrancy and variation in color I can get with these fun, tiny little crystals. There are so many ways to use them, but for this project, I simply poured some Pigment Sprinkles on an acrylic block, added some water with my Aqua Painter, and mixed to create paint. The sprinkles have a fun variation in color, which is really evident on the flowers that I colored with Melon Mambo. There’s hot pink of course, but also some orange and purple tones. I also used Mango Melody sprinkles to paint the small flowers and Daffodil Delight sprinkles to paint the background. All these colors, and more, are included in one box of Pigment Sprinkles. And, a little goes a LONG way, so I’ll be using these for a long time to come. Be sure to purchase them before June 2, 2020 or while supplies last!
I heat embossed the flowers in white on Shimmery White Cardstock and cut them out with the coordinating dies. I also cut the small flowers and pineapple tops from Shimmery White Cardstock. For the background, I started with a layer of Shimmery White Cardstock, then I painted a quick wash with Daffodil Delight Pigment Sprinkles. To get those fun watermarks, I used a Heat Tool to speed up the drying process. Afterwards, I ran the whole background layer through my die cutting machine with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder. Finally, I added some Gold Foil leaf die cuts and sentiment.

Hi Christine. Thank you so much!!! I embossed the flowers first. Then, I sprinkled the Crystals on an acrylic block and added water the make paint in order to watercolor.
For the Melon Mambo flowers, did you emboss the flowers first then use the Sprinkles to color or color the shimmery white Cardstock and emboss over top then die cut? This is a gorgeous card BTW!
