#TGIFC252 — This or That

By | February 21, 2020

Hello! It’s Friday and that means time for a new TGIF Challenge! This week, the challenge is to use either the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (DSP) or the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper (SDSP). You can earn either one of these fantastic paper packs for free during Sale-A-Bration with a qualifying purchase of $50. I love them both equally as much!!!

Please remember that Sale-A-Bration goes through March 31, 2020, and products are only available while supplies last, so don’t wait!

I’ve posted lots of projects using the Lily Impressions DSP. It was an immediate favorite. So for this challenge, I decided to use the Golden Honey SDSP. It’s a little hidden jewel in the Sale-A-Bration catalog that I didn’t immediately notice. The best thing about it is that it’s black, white, and gold, so it goes with virtually anything.

I really examined the paper and found all sorts of interesting prints I could cut out and use on my card. For example, I followed the outlines of the honeycomb design to create an uneven background. I also cut out a couple of the bee prints for decoration.

For the background of my card, I used a Sponge Dauber to create an ombre design on Whisper White Cardstock with Mango Melody ink. Tip: For a smooth blending effect, ink up your Sponge Dauber and then rub off a little on scratch paper. Afterwards, use a very light touch. Each time I added ink, I started at the bottom and blended up, making small circles and working in a horizontal pattern.

To decorate the rest of the card, I used the Thoughtful Blooms stamp set (another $50 Sale-A-Bration item), Small Blooms Punch ($100 Sale-A-Bration item), and the Medium Daisy Punch. I stamped the flowers on both Whisper White and Melon Mambo Cardstock and then used a Sponge Dauber to darken the ends of the petals. Then, I used a Bone Folder to curl the petals and adhered the layers together with Mini Glue Dots.

I also used the Birthday Dies (Sale-A-Bration Coordination item) to cut leaves from Gold Foil, and I stamped and embossed additional leaves in gold directly onto the Golden Honey SDSP.

Finally, I added some Clear Faceted Gems and Rhinestones Basic Jewels to the flower centers for a little glitz.

I love how this card turned out! It’s a little different from my normal style and I’m always trying to expand my horizons.
