Color Fusers Blog Hop – December 2023

By | December 4, 2023

Hello and welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for December 2023! This month, we have a beautiful color combination of Pool Party, Orchid Oasis, and Fresh Freesia. It immediately made me think of glistening snow and beautiful winter skies. So, I decided to use the Forever Forest Bundle. Believe it or not, this is the first time I’ve used the stamps in this bundle! Previously, I’ve been obsessed with the dies, so this was fun!

Confession: I didn’t have a lot of time to make this card, so it’s fairly simple. I embossed the trees in white on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper. (The three threes are all on one stamp.) Then, I cut it out with the second largest Deckled Circles Dies. Those dies are quite BIG, so try using a partial cut to fit your project. It’s a fun option.

Afterwards, I watercolored the background with the three ink colors, using an emboss resist technique. Tip: Start by coating both the back and front of the watercolor paper with clear water, so the paper doesn’t curl. I like to use the largest Water Painter for projects like this. I start with a light wash of color and then add more intense color while the paper is still damp, by applying the brush in a horizontal pattern and using a dabbing motion. For this project, I added a lot of color on top of the trees, so the white embossing would stand out.

Once the paper dried, I added splatter by lightly flicking the brush of my Dark Orchid Oasis and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends Markers against the cap towards the paper.

To add a little more texture to the background, I dry embossed a layer of Orchid Oasis Cardstock with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and then dragged a Craft White ink pad over the raised areas. I love this subtle look!

The greeting is from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set. I cut it out with a coordinating die from the Labels Aglow Dies. Then, I layered it over some beautiful White 1/2″ Iridescent Ribbon and a bow tied with Orchid Oasis Woven Metallic Ribbon.

To finish the front of the card, I added a few white snowflake embellishments along with some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

On the inside, I added a greeting from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set and a few watercolored Forever Forest die-cuts.
