#WWYS225 — Good Morning Magnolia

By | June 24, 2019

Happy Monday Everyone! Today, we have a very special What Will You Stamp? Challenge featuring the gorgeous Good Morning Magnolia stamp set! You can find this stamp set, along with the whole coordinating Magnolia Lane Suite, on pages 36 to 39 of the Annual Catalog. I can’t wait to see what the designers come up with using these amazing products!!!

I decided to create four gift boxes. The boxes showcase several of the Magnolia Lane Suite products that coordinate with the Good Morning Magnolia stamps, including the Magnolia Memory Dies, and Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper and Ribbon. I’m in LOVE with these 3-D flowers!

I created all the boxes with different sheets of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. They measure 3″ square at the base. Two are 1″ high, and two are 2″ high. I simply used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut squares equaling 5″ square for the small boxes and 7″ square for the larger boxes. Then, I scored the sides accordingly.

I like to fold my corners into triangles and adhere them to the inside of the boxes with Tear & Tape Adhesive. I find this adds stability to the bases, especially when using designer series paper.

For the box tops, I cut squares from Magnolia Lane Memories & More Large Specialty Cards measuring 4-1/8″ square. I love the craft card stock from these cards! I was able to cut four box tops from two cards. Then, I scored the sides at 1/2″, notched the corners, and assembled with Mini Glue Dots.

To make the large flowers, I cut the following from Whisper White Cardstock: 2 each of all three flower building Magnolia Memory Dies plus 5 Hot Air Balloon Punches (item 149520 on page 188.) I also used the Magnolia Memory Dies to cut both the large and small centers from So Saffron Cardstock.

Next, I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge Petal Pink ink on the centers of all the Whisper White petals and So Saffron ink on the tips of the flower centers (both top and bottom since dies would stick up vertically.) Next, I used a Bone Folder to shape the petals and center dies. This takes a little time and effort, but it’s really worth it, because this is the part that makes the flower really look 3-D.

Finally, I punched out a 1-1-4″ circle from Whisper White Cardstock to use as a base and adhered all my dies together with Hot Glue on top of a Silicon Craft Sheet.

Tips: I like to start with the smaller dies first and work out. Also, I found that I liked the overall look of the flowers a lot better when I really overlapped the large Hot Air Balloon punches a lot!

Final touch was to add a Gold Faceted Gem to the centers!

One of my boxes features the large magnolia stamp from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I stamped it multiple times so I could cut out layers and curl them with a Bone Folder it to make the flower look 3-D. I colored the flower and leaves with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the leaves on all my boxes. Some of the leaves are stamped on Whisper White Cardstock and some are stamped on Old Olive Cardstock.

As I was assembling my larger flowers, I realized that these dies make really pretty smaller flowers too! So for my last box, I made three smaller versions.

To finish off the boxes, I used Stitched Nested Label Dies to create tags from different sheets of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. Each tag includes a different sentiment from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. For some, I cut out individual words to create my own sentiments.

Finally, I added Stitched Nested Label Die runners on each box. I used a partial die cutting method to lengthen the dies to fit around the box tops

Hope you find some inspiration from my boxes. I used one as a door prize for my Stamp Club last week and another for a birthday gift to my son’s girlfriend, sweet Josie.

Do you have a tutorial for the small flowers that you could share? I made the large flower but could use more specific details on the little ones because mine doesn’t look like yours.

Hi Amy. I made the smaller flowers exactly the same as the large flowers except I did not include the 5 Hot Air Balloon pouches on two. On the very smallest, I did not include the 2 larger Magnolia dies. Otherwise, they are the same. I did work the petals quite a bit to shape them before assembling. I dont have a tutorial.

Love your beautiful gift boxes and your wonderfully detailed description of how you made them. The stamped, multi layer Magnolia flower is stunning and I love the box with the smaller flowers. I’m going to try my hand at some of these today, so timely for me. Thanks for sharing your talents.
