#TGIFC436 — Color Challenge

By | September 1, 2023

Hi friends and welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week, our color challenge includes Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, and Pool Party. While those colors didn’t immediately make me think of Christmas, I started looking through my stash and found the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper, which includes both Crumb Cake and Pool Party! That lead me to designing my first Christmas card of the season!!! Yay!

The Horse & Sleigh Bundle and coordinating One Horse Open Sleigh DSP can be found in the Online Exclusives section of my online store. That’s where you can also find the Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes used on the label. Don’t forget to check out all the exclusive products online. These products aren’t included in any of the current catalogs and even include some great carryover items from past catalogs.

It may be hard to notice in the photo, but this is an oversized card measuring 6-1/2″ x 4-1/2″. I used the Assorted Memories & More Cards & Envelopes. They work great with the large image in this stamp set and beautiful DSP.

I stamped the main image with Basic Gray ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I colored it with Crumb Cake, Blackberry Bliss, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. I also used the light Natural Tones Stampin’ Blends for the faces. After cutting out the image with the coordinating die, I embellished the sleigh with die-cuts from More Dazzle Specialty Paper.

The Horse & Sleigh Dies include the trees I placed behind the sleigh, and yes, they are cut from Crumb Cake, Pool Party, and Blackberry Bliss. I thought it was fun to use non-traditional colors. To add the “snow,” I used a Sponge Dauber to add Versamark ink to the branches. Then, I dipped the die-cuts in white embossing powder, used my finger to rub off some of the powder, and then heat set it. I love how this turned out!

For the sentiment, I used a label from the new Christmas Classic Dies from the upcoming September-December Mini Catalog. You’ll be able to purchase products from that catalog starting September 6th!

I also decorated the inside of my card. (That’s a new goal of mine for all the Christmas cards I make, so I don’t have to do it later!!!)
