One of my co-workers recently welcomed a new baby boy into his family! I decided to whip up a quick card for all of us to sign and thought I’d share it today. I confess that I don’t own a lot of baby-themed stamp sets, so I had to get a little creative.
I ended up using the Sea Turtle Stamp Set, because it includes cute little baby turtles, and the Charming Sentiments Stamp Set. I also used a new product from the upcoming September-December Mini Catalog, the Deckled Circle Dies, as well as the Deckled Rectangle Dies from the Annual Catalog.
Since I didn’t have a lot of time, I used a couple techniques from my recent Sea Turtle Online Class. (Why reinvent the wheel, right?) I stamped the detail turtles with Lost Lagoon, and then flipped over the reversible stamp and stamped the fill image with Pool Party ink, stamped off once on scratch paper to lighten the color.
For the starfish, I embossed the images in white first on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I watercolored them with Crumb Cake ink. First, I painted a light wash and then I added streaks of darker color.
Behind the turtles, I used the big bubble stamp. I inked up the smooth side with Balmy Blue ink, stamped off once on scratch paper to lighten the color, reapplied ink to a portion of the stamp, spritzed liberally, and then stamped on Basic White. This technique provides a really cool watercolor looking image. I repeated the process with Pool Party, but stamped off twice. Then, I flipped the stamp over to the detail side and repeated the process again, once with Balmy Blue and once with Pool Party ink.
