Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for September! This month, we have a gorgeous color combination of Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, and Berry Burst. There are so many directions I could have gone with this combo! However, because I have lots of guys in my family with September birthdays, and they all love the mountains, I decided to use the new Forever Forest Bundle from the September-December Mini Catalog.
I love any bundle that includes mountains and trees, and this one has a great variety. This card was actually fairly simple to make. I created my own “paper” with Blending Brushes and splatter and then used it to cut out all the trees.
Here’s what I did: I used Blending Brushes to add Lost Lagoon ink to one sheet of Basic White Cardstock and Blackberry Bliss and Berry Burst to the other in an ombre pattern. Then, I dipped my Water Painter in a cup of water and splattered away. Tip: It helps to color your paper darker then you think you’ll need as some of the color will fade with the splatters.
Next, I lightly watercolored the Deckled Circle die-cut in the background with both Lost Lagoon and Berry Burst ink, and then after it dried, I added some Lost Lagoon splatter with a dark Stampin’ Blends Marker. I also stamped the moon and stars. The images in this stamp set have a watercolor look. I decided to apply the ink to the stamp with a Blending Brush, for a lighter image. Then, I used a Water Painted to very lightly blend the image.
The background includes a sheet of Inked Botanicals DSP that I dry embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. I love a bit of texture and even roughed up the edges of the paper with my Paper Snips.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment using the Artistically Inked stamps with Blackberry Bliss ink and looped some Linen Thread underneath.
I used some leftover die-cuts on the inside and a sentiment from the retired Peaceful Moments stamp set.
