Over the Top Gift Wrap

I love to create pretty gift wrapping for special people in my life, especially my mom.  She loves stamping as much as I do, and so I know she appreciates the effort, and I love to surprise her with really great “over the top” gifts.  Hopefully, by the time she reads this, the package will have arrived at her house and she would have at least seen the outside of… Read More »

Alternate Use – Bloomin’ Love

After Valentine’s Day, you may have thought there weren’t many uses for the Bloomin’ Love stamp set and coordinating Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies (sold in a bundle for 15% off.)  However, I’ve seen lots of creative ideas to use these two products that have nothing to do with Valentine’s Day. I have one to share with you today. Yesterday was my monthly Stamp Club workshop.  Each month, we get together… Read More »

Weekly News

It’s been a super busy week!  I started my new job as the accountant for a local insurance company.  It’s going really well.  Luckily, the woman I’m replacing (who’s retiring) has been able to stick around for a few weeks to train me on their system.  While I’m very familiar with accounting systems, I’ve never worked for an insurance company, so her help is greatly appreciated and has made the… Read More »

How To Sponge a Scene

A dear friend of ours recently lost his life partner.  He worked with me for many years in the Internal Audit Department of Washington Mutual Bank and then later became a client of my husbands.  Since then, he moved to Texas, but we’ve kept in touch over the years, and my husband still does his taxes every year.  We were so sad to learn that his partner had passed away.… Read More »

Quick & Easy Gift Box

I love making pretty boxes for gifts!  They’re always a big hit. Handmade boxes work especially well for small gifts, like this one that measures 5″ square with 1/2″ sides.  I made it out of some Neutrals Designer Series Paper following a pizza box design that I posted previously on my blog.  (See below for a copy.) To create the belly band, I used Crumb Cake card stock. Tip:  When… Read More »

Mirror Image Layout

Last Monday, I shared the story of my daughter’s Senior photo shoot.  Well today, I have a scrapbook page to share that includes the actual photos taken during that photo shoot in the field of mustard flowers.  This page will sit right next to last week’s page. If you recognize the page layout, it’s because this one is a mirror image of the page from last week.  It’s super easy… Read More »

Simple Emboss Resist

Today, I have another watercolor wash background technique to share that’s simple and beautiful. I’ve shown this technique before on my blog, but it bears repeating because watercoloring is so popular right now.  For this card, I used the Watercolor Words stamp set and Shimmery White paper. There are really only two types of paper that can withstand watercoloring well: 1) Watercolor paper and 2) Shimmery White paper.  All the… Read More »

Grunge Watercolor

Watercoloring is a huge trend in card making right now.  Anyone who reads my blog on a regular basis knows that it’s also one of my favorite techniques for coloring and creating backgrounds.  I think a lot of people shy away from watercoloring, because they think it’s difficult.  But, my card today will show that it can be super easy and fun. This is a fairly simple card to recreate. … Read More »

Life Changes & What It Means: Next week, I’m starting a new job.  My youngest child will be going off to college next Fall, so I’ve know for some time that I would eventually go back to work.  This job sort of fell in my lap, which I consider pretty lucky given the current state of the economy and the fact that I’m well into my 50s.  A long-time client… Read More »

Senior Photo Shoot

Not too long ago, my daughter asked if we could hire a photographer to take senior photos.  According to her, EVERYONE does this.  We had just purchased the official senior photos taken at school, (which weren’t cheap!), so I said I’d entertain the idea if she could find a good photographer that was reasonably priced. Well, it took her about two seconds to do that!  She already knew of a… Read More »

18th Birthday

My baby is turning 18 tomorrow!!!  This is just crazy!  I can’t believe how fast the years have gone by.  I’m having a much harder time with this one, probably because she’s my youngest. Because this is such a BIG birthday milestone, I wanted to make a super special card for her.  I bought the Number of Years photopolymer stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits for this exact occasion.  (You… Read More »
