The Stamping Station – Simple Joys

Welcome to the Stamping Station Blog Hop for April! We’re a group of worldwide demonstrators that get together on the third Sunday of each month to inspire your paper crafting. This month, our theme is “Simple Joys.” This could be interpreted to mean the style of the design or the theme.

Typically, I don’t make simple cards. I ADMIRE designers who make it look so easy and yet still come up with something super artistic. My style is normally more fancy cards. So for this assignment, I decided to concentrate on shades of one simple color – pink. I just recently attended a baby shower for my niece and I’m so incredibly thrilled for her. I thought I’d go ahead and make a card for when the baby comes.

For my card, I chose the Springtime Scenes Bundle. My niece Katie’s nickname as a child was Katie Bug and they are already fondly calling her daughter Clair Bug. So I thought this bundle would be perfect with it’s sweet ladybugs. When I attended the baby shower, EVERYTHING was pink, so I know she loves the color pink too!

Keeping with the “simple” theme, I cut all the leaf and flower die-cuts from Basic White Cardstock. Then I used the plain circle die in the set as a guide to add a Bubble Bath ring to the background with a Small Blending Brush. Afterwards, I spattered it with water and added more splatter with Bubble Bath and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends Markers.

I stamped the ladybugs with Melon Mambo ink and colored them with both Bubble Bath and Melon Mambo Stampin’ Blends Markers. Then, I enhanced the ladybugs and flowers with Frosted Iridescent Dots.

Afterwards, I thought the card needed a little more pizzazz. So I added a bow of Bubble Bath Faux Linen Ribbon along with the white part of some white & gold baker’s twine. I liked the way that twine has a permanent twisty-curl to it when it’s unraveled.

On the inside, I added a greeting from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set.
