The Stamping Station – Bold & Beautiful with Sunset Coast

Welcome to the Stamping Station Blog Hop for May! We’re a group of worldwide demonstrators that get together on the third Sunday of each month to inspire your paper crafting. This month, our theme is “Bold & Beautiful.” This could be interpreted as the color, imagery, or even the project itself.

When I think of bold colors, I immediately think of the gorgeous Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper (DSP) with its vibrant colors. So, it was easy to decide what to do for this challenge. I picked one of boldest prints in the pack and paired it with the coordinating Sunset Coast Bundle. So fun!!!

I wanted the background paper to be the star of the show, so I picked Night of Navy Cardstock for the background as a dark contrast. Tip: Cut the lighthouse first and then trim down the Scenic Coast DSP to frame it the way you want. Also, keep the leftover pieces of DSP to die-cut smaller pieces and decorate the inside of the card!

I wanted to add more character to the lighthouse, so I die-cut a second lighthouse from the back of one of the leftover pieces of DSP and cut out the stripes and roof. Then, I die-cut another lighthouse from Basic White to use for the railing. Afterwards, I used Blending Brushes to add Night of Navy and just a little bit of Strawberry Slush ink where the sunset would reflect on the white part of the railing.

Next, I used a White Gel Pen and Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends Markers to draw white sea foam and shade the bottom of the crashing waves. I also added some subtle Night of Navy blending to the large section of the card where the sentiment would go by using a net die-cut as a mask.

I die-cut the clouds from a different sheet of the Scenic Coast DSP and fence from leftover pieces of the background and then added ink blending with Night of Navy and Strawberry Slush ink. The starfish and clam die-cuts are also cut from the DSP. I darkened the starfish with Strawberry Slush ink and lightened the clam with a Sponge Dauber and Craft White ink.

The sentiment is embossed in white on Blueberry Bushel Cardstock and die-cut with a Nested Essentials Dies. Then, I added a Loose Anchor Trinket braided with Linen Thread.

I left the inside of the card blank for now. but I decorated it with a small strip of the leftover DSP (backside), another starfish, and a net die-cut from Basic White Cardstock and blended with Crumb Cake ink.
