#TGIFC440 – Halloween Treats

By | September 29, 2023

Happy Friday! This week’s TGIF Challenge is Halloween Treat packaging! It’s almost October, so time to get ready for your favorite Trick or Treaters!!!

I decided to use the Night of Flight stamp set. It’s a Host set, and I figured that with the right colors, it might just work for this challenge. My color combo includes Blackberry Bliss, Pretty Peacock, Wild Wheat, Basic Black, and a little Old Olive. It’s dark enough to be a little scary, but not too much. 🙂

I stamped all the images with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper in order to watercolor them. Did you know that you can use Tuxedo Black Memento ink to watercolor? It’s water-soluble, so it works perfectly.

Watercoloring Tip: Paint small sections and start with a light wash. Then, as the paper dries, add more concentrated color for a nice variation.

I created two treats, one using the 2023-2025 In Color Treat Bags and one using the Scalloped Gift Card Boxes. For this first one, I created a large tag to hold the decorations from Earthen Elegance DSP and cut with a Basic Borders Die to form the notch.

I cut the “moon” from Fresh As A Daisy DSP using the Deckled Circles Dies, and the branches from Pretty Peacock Cardstock with the Autumn Leaves Dies.

When I cut the “BOO!” with the Alphabet A La Mode Dies, I used the negative for my treat bag and the letters for my box below.

I decided to be daring and try to watercolor my Scalloped Gift Card Box! I chose the mat finish side of the box (versus the glossy side) and tried to paint sparingly by only brushing over each area once with as little water as possible. I really love how this turned out!

The circle die-cuts use the same DSP as my first project, and since the die-cut letters were a little large, I decided to place them on a Vellum tag to hold them together on the box and not cover up the pretty watercoloring.

Inside are my treats!
