Color Fusers Blog Hop – Oct 2023

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for October 2023! This month, our color combination includes Wild Wheat, Pecan Pie, and Cajun Craze! I had to really give this combo some thought; it’s way out of my wheelhouse. But as I stared at the ink pads, I thought of sepia tones and that changed my mindset! I even decided to challenge myself further by making a Christmas card versus a Fall-themed one (mostly, because I need Christmas cards!!! Haha!)

I used the Ringed With Nature Stamp Set and coordinating Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder. The hybrid embossing folder is really cool, because it comes with both dies and a 3D embossing folder. And, one of the dies fits inside the embossing folder to both cut and emboss the tree stumps at the same time. (See the Distressed Gold tree stump behind the house.)

To stamp the images, I inked up the stamp, stamped off once on scratch paper to lighten the color, and then used a Sponge Dauber to add ink to create shadows. Afterwards, I gave the stamps a little spritz of water before stamping on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I love how the house looks like baked gingerbread, and both the poinsettia flowers and mushroom heads have variations of color.

In addition, I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color my die-cuts. For the berries, I cut them out of Very Vanilla Cardstock and then colored them with blends. For the twigs, I cut them from Pecan Pie and Cajun Craze Cardstock and then used the same color blends to enhance lights and darks.

My sentiment is heat embossed in gold on Cajun Craze Cardstock, and then I added some gold Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins and gold trim to finish off the card.
