#TGIFC438 – 1 Card 2 Ways

By | September 15, 2023

Time for a new TGIF Challenge! This week, we are creating one card two ways. Since I have lots of masculine birthdays this month, I decided to design a card with the Trucking Along Stamp Set and then use two different color combos for two entirely different looks. I had so much fun with this challenge!!!

I took my inspiration from the All About Autumn Designer Series Papers. Those papers are SO GORGEOUS! You can see two examples on the card below, including the woodgrain and leaf print on the middle and lower sections. The colors in the leaf print totally inspired me, because I never would have thought of this color combo for a Fall-themed card. But, I love how it turned out!

I stamped the truck with Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored it with Water Painters. Since I wanted the truck to stand out, I picked Boho Blue ink, because it coordinates with the other colors, but it’s also not included in the leaf print.

Next, I played with ink combinations to create paper to cut out the trees. First, I used Blending Brushes to add ink to watercolor paper. Then, I splattered the paper with water. You can see the different combinations I used below for both cards.

This is a really easy and fun technique, and it comes out different using watercolor paper versus Basic White (which I did on another recent project.) Since watercolor paper blends so easily, the larger splatters blended a lot more than when I used Basic White Cardstock.

I cut out the trees, mountains, and clouds with the Forever Forest Dies. To give the mountains a little more life, I used a Sponge Dauber to add Craft White ink to the tops.

I had a few leftover trees for the inside too!

My second card included more traditional Fall colors and focused on a yellow truck. I love how the watercolored sky turned out! I used Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze ink to paint it on watercolor paper.

This time, I used a sheet of DSP from the One Horse Open Sleigh pack for the wood grain. The leaf print in the lower section is part of the All About Autumn DSP.

To finish both cards, I used a sentiment from the Waves of Inspiration stamps and then cut it out with the Waves Dies.

Add two more cards to the masculine birthday stash!
