#TGIFC394 — Sketch Challenge

By | November 11, 2022

It’s Friday and that means a new TGIF Challenge. This week, we are using the sketch shown below. Isn’t that a great sketch? I love the creative ideas our team leaders give us!!! Since I’m on a Christmas card mission, I switched up the theme to make a holiday card, but this would also be perfect for other seasons, birthdays, etc.

For my card today, I used the fabulous Lights Aglow Suite Collection from pages 30-33 of the JD Mini Catalog. It’s also featured on the cover of the catalog. I absolutely fell in LOVE with this entire suite the minute I looked at the catalog. It’s so different with all the cool cut-out dies! And, I adore the glimmer and Festive Foils paper, as well as that ribbon!!!

My favorite print of the Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is the vanilla and gold print I used in the background here. It just looks so elegant!!!

To create the Christmas tree, I embossed the tree in gold on Starry Sky Cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating dies. There are two coordinating dies, one for the outline and one to cut out the peek-a-boo holes. There are nice little areas to line up that die for a perfect cut, which makes using it a snap. Then, I placed a solid tree cut from gold glimmer paper behind to show through the holes. I did the same thing behind the swirl at the top of the tree.

Behind the tree, I used a layer of Shimmery White Cardstock that I watercolored with Starry Sky ink.

The rest of this card is fairly simple. I stamped and embossed the small snowflake on Festive Foils Specialty Paper, and then I cut the ribbon in half lengthwise to tie the bow. Don’t you just love that label? I think it’s one of my favorite label dies in a long time. It’s a great shape and the little dots give it such character.

That little scallop along the bottom is a Penned Flowers Die. I thought the card needed a touch more glimmer. Ha!
