#TGIFC360 — Simple Stamping

By | March 18, 2022

Happy Friday, and welcome to a new TGIF Challenge! This week our theme is Simple Stamping. Umm, simple stamping? That is seriously not my thing. In fact, my thing is totally the opposite; lots of layers and fun stamping techniques. This challenge was HARD for me. Laugh if you will, but no matter the challenge, I always strive to create a project I would be proud to give to a friend, and my friends have expectations. Haha! I probably broke the rules a little bit, but if you look at the list of supplies, it’s much smaller than normal:)

Typically, simple stamping means stamping on one layer or the card base itself. I have two layers on top of the card base (and a sentient layer), so that’s pretty close. I seriously love texture, so I had to throw in a dry embossed layer on the very bottom, but a beginner stamper could definitely skip that part and still create a really pretty card.

I chose a sheet of New Horizons Designer Series Paper to do all my stamping. To me, it’s the perfect choice for this challenge, because I can get that artsy look that I love without having to do any of the work. Then, to shake things up a bit, I used the Paradise Palms stamp set, instead of the On The Horizon stamp set that’s designed to coordinate with the paper.

I started by stamping the ground for my palms with Misty Moonlight ink a few times. Then, I added some grass stamped in the same color.

Next, I stamped the trees. I used Stampin’ Write Markers to color directly onto the red rubber stamp so I could stamp with two colors at the same time. I used the brush end of the markers to color the trunks with Soft Suede and the tree tops with Blackberry Bliss. (Remember to give your stamp a little huff before stamping.) This method gave me the option to stamp all three trees at the same time or just two for a little variety.

Lastly I stamped the sun by inking up the stamp with Pale Papaya ink and then adding a little Polished Pink ink to the edges with a Sponge Dauber.

I stamped the sentiment with Misty Moonlight ink on Basic White Cardstock, trimmed it close, and then fed one end through the Banners Pick A Punch to notch the end.

To assemble the card, I wrapped the main layer with Linen Thread and then adhered it over the dry embossed layer. The final touch was a few Artistry Bloom Sequins. I love the way this card turned out and would definitely be proud to give it to a friend.
