#TGIFC230 — Perennial Essence

By | September 20, 2019

It’s Friday and that means a new TGIF Challenge! The product challenge for this week focuses on either the Mosaic Mood or Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper. You can find both of these gorgeous paper packs on pages 166 and 167 of the Annual Catalog.

I hope you can join us for this week’s challenge. Simply create a project, post it on your blog or social media, and then link the photo to the TGIF Challenges Blog website using the linky Tool at the bottom of the post.

There are a million things I could have done with this challenge. The Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper is one of my all-time-favorites, and I’ve used it on numerous projects. In fact, during a recent Stamp Club, one of my friends indicated that she had accidentally ordered a duplicate pack and wanted to know if anyone wanted to buy it off her. I raised my hand in two seconds flat. I absolutely love the artistic style of this paper!!!

With the holidays right around the corner, I decided to demonstrate how you can turn “non-holiday” papers and stamps into holiday projects by simply using the right colors.

I selected a sheet of Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper that was mostly green brush strokes for my background, and then I used a color combination of Poppy Parade, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, and Soft Seafoam to color the Floral Essence flowers and leaves. Voila, a Christmas card!!!

I started out by embossing the Floral Essence flower in white multiple times on Shimmery White Cardstock. Then, I used an Aqua Painter to watercolor it with Poppy Parade ink and cut out four progressively smaller layers. Afterwards, I curled the petals with a Bone Folder and adhered the petals together with Mini Glue Dots. The center is a combination of both Faceted and Basic Jewels.

For the leaves, I used Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, and Soft Seafoam Stampin’ Write Markers to apply color directly onto the Floral Essence leaf stamp. Then, I spritzed the stamp slightly with clear water and stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock. This technique produces a pretty watercolor look that I love. Afterwards, I punched out the leaves with the Leaf Punch.

I also punched out some additional leaves from Mossy Meadow Cardstock and used a Sponge Dauber to add Frost White Shimmer Paint to the tips.

After embossing both the background layer and Soft Seafoam circle die cut with the Subtle 3-D Embossing Folder, I sponged Frost White Shimmer Paint on the edges.

Lastly, I added a greeting using the Merry Christmas Dies and Poppy Parade and Sparkle Glimmer Paper. (I love sparkle on holiday cards!!!)
