Gather Together

The new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog has some really amazing products! I’ve just started playing with a lot of them, including the gorgeous Come To Gather Suite on pages 46 to 48.

In fact, Stampin’ Through The Catalog Challenge (#STTCchallenge) is also featuring the Gather Together stamp set this week. That means, you can use that hash tag to search on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram for lots of inspiration, in addition to sharing your own creations!

I used the Gather Together stamp set and coordinating Gathered Leaves Dies and Come To Gather Designer Series Paper to create a gift bag/door prize for my Stamp Club next week. I love the way this watercolored Autumn wreath turned out!

To create the wreath, I used a large circle die as a base and guide. Then, I layered a variety of die cuts that I had embossed, stamped, and watercolored.

Layers include the following:

  1. Watercolored leaves: I used Gathered Leaves Dies to cut leaves from Shimmery White Cardstock and then watercolored them with both Cajun Craze and Merry Merlot ink. Afterwards, I stamped the dots with Pretty Peacock ink (stamped off a few times to lighten the effect) and embossed the tips in copper. I didn’t have copper ink on hand, so I used Gold Glitz Delicata instead. I applied the ink with a Sponge Dauber and then covered it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set.
  2. Gathered Leaves Dies: I cut leaves from both Copper Foil and Come To Gather Designer Series Paper. (Tip: The cut and emboss dies work better when you slightly spritz the paper before cutting.)
  3. In The Woods Leaves: I cut leaves from Pretty Peacock Cardstock and then used Gold Glitz Delicata ink and copper embossing powder to emboss the tips.
  4. Finally, I stamped the wheat with Cajun Craze ink and cut them out by hand.

I realized as I was creating my wreath that it was more visually appealing when I clumped similar colors together. Otherwise, it was just a jumbled mass of multi-colored leaves. I often find it’s helpful to lay everything out and look at my project from different distances and angles, before adhering everything down.

I adhered my tag onto a Copper Dotted Treat Bag with a Mini Library Clip and then added a bow tied with Braided Linen Trim, Cajun Craze Baker’s Twine from the Come To Gather Ribbon Combo Pack, and topped with a Bird Ballad Trinket.

I’m looking forward to making lots of fun Fall projects with this bundle!!!

Have a wonderful and creative day.
