Color Fusers Blog Hop – March 2024

By | March 4, 2024

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for March 2024! This month, our color combination includes Sweet Sorbet, Pool Party, and Lost Lagoon. I LOVE it!!!

My project was inspired by a “Field Notes” card designed by Susan Wong for The Crafty Carrot Collective. She created a similar project with Vellum pockets to slip in interactive tags. I thought the idea was so cute and perfect for the Notes of Nature and Lovely and Sweet Bundles. The two bundles are part of the Nature’s Sweetness Suite Collection on pages 40 to 43 of the JA Mini Catalog.

My card is a slimline design measuring 8-1/2″ x 3-3/4″. (It fits inside Stampin’ Up!’s retired slimline envelopes.) The two torn Vellum pockets on the bottom hold two different tags and a watercolored leaf die-cut. Imagine being out in nature, collecting botanical notes, and then tucking them into a notebook.

To complete the card front, I watercolored and stamped a layer of Pool Party Cardstock measuring 8-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. I watercolored the background with Pool Party ink, and then stamped the images with Lost Lagoon, Gray Granite, and Stazon ink. Then, I watercolored the leaves with Lost Lagoon ink.

Afterwards, I used the spiral edge die to cut the top, and then I ripped and rolled it to give it a weathered appearance. Before adhering the layer to the card base, I added the two pockets by folding Vellum Cardstock around the layer.

Then, I decorated the Vellum pockets with white embossed leaves and watercolored flowers and leaf die-cuts. I love the sentiment and plan to give this card to a very special person this month!

For the two tags, I used Nature’s Sweetness Designer Series Paper as backgrounds. Then, for the larger tag, I stamped and heat embossed the image in white on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and painted it with Sweet Sorbet, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, and Gray Granite ink. Then, I pre-painted some extra paper with Lost Lagoon and Pool Party ink so I could use it to die-cut the leaves.

On the smaller tag, I cut two leaf die-cuts from Pool Party Cardstock and then watercolored a Paper Butterfly Accent with Sweet Sorbet ink.

I love the tab dies in this bundle! After adhering a Pebbled Path and Lost Lagoon one to each tag, I stapled some ribbon to each and even tied a bow with Linen Thread around one.

Since both tags are removable, I decided to finish the backs as well. I adhered Basic White Cardstock to back of each, which I had stamped and decorated with DSP. Then, I dragged the edges of the tags along my Pebbled Path and Gray Granite ink pads to add a distressed look and hide where all the layers meet.

The long leaf die-cut is from some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper that I had pre -ainted with both Lost Lagoon and Pool Party ink.

On the inside of the card, I stamped another layer of Pool Party Cardstock and added some layers of Nature’s Sweetness DSP and a few more watercolored die-cuts.

I really love these two bundles and enjoyed making this interactive card. I think this pretty color combination really brightened up the neutral colors from this suite. Thank you Susan for your amazing inspiration!
