Color Fusers Blog Hop — August 2023

By | August 7, 2023

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for August! This month’s color combination is a cool collection, including Pebbled Path, Boho Blue and Misty Moonlight. It could work well for masculine cards, which was perfect, because that’s exactly what I needed to make. My son got some great news this week (he passed his boards!)

Whether you’re already following the blog hop, or just starting here, be sure to continue on by following the navigation buttons/links at the bottom of this post.

When the family was together a couple weeks ago to celebrate my mother-in-law’s big 100th birthday, my son was so nervous about his upcoming test to practice physical therapy. We all tried to reassure him, but I think it’s impossible when something means so much. (I felt similar pressure taking the CPA exam.) It was such an incredible relief to hear the good news this week, and I think he’s still on Cloud 9.

Now, he’ll have lots more time on the weekends to do things he loves, like fishing! In fact, he just bought a new rod and has a trip planned with my husband this week.

This card was pretty simple to make. I relied heavily on the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper for most of the hard work. I fussy cut all the fish from the DSP, used two different prints to cut the background layers, and another print to stamp the lighter “Congrats.”

I also used the Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder to dry emboss the background layer over the card base. (I had to run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine twice to make the design landscape. Run it through the first time to emboss as much as possible. Then, align it as best as possible and run it through again without going over the transition seam. Back it out, and it worked!)

Most of the lures are cut from Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and watercolored with the three challenge colors. Then, I cut the hook and small lure from Silver Foil.

The final touch was lots of rustic trim, including Natural Wavy Trim, Pebbled Path Jute Trim, and Linen Thread, as well as some Misty Moonlight splatter and some Rustic Metallic Dots.

I love this color combination and am excited to see what the other designers dream up. Follow the buttons/links below for even more inspiration using this month’s color combination. Next up is the fabulous Sue Vine:
