#TGIFC186 Inspiration Challenge

By | November 16, 2018

It’s Friday!  That means time for a new TGIF Challenge!

This week, we have an inspiration challenge from the photo below.  When I look at this picture, I see country vintage, Fall, and lots of wood textures.  I also see a chalkboard and the following color combination:  Pumpkin Pie, Coastal Cabana, Sahara Sand, Granny Apple Green, and Basic Black.  If you look real close, there’s also checkerboard, and while I didn’t use it, I think the new Buffalo Check background stamp would work great with this challenge!

Be sure to go over to the TGIF Challenges Blog and check out all the designers’ projects inspired by this photo!

I decided to focus on the country theme, colors, and chalkboard from the inspiration photo.  Therefore, I used a couple Wood Textures background papers and even added real stitching with my sewing machine.  I mean you can’t get much more country than sewing, right?

I stamped the roses and herbs with Pumpkin Pie, Coastal Cabana, and Granny Apple Green ink on Shimmery White Cardstock.  Then, I used an Aqua Painter filled with clear water to paint over the stamped images and blend the colors.  I particularly love how the Pumpkin Pie roses turned out!  It’s funny, because certain colors of ink react differently to this technique, and the Pumpkin Pie ink really liquefied much more than the other two colors.  I had to be very careful to use a fairly dry brush and limit my painting to small areas at a time, so I wouldn’t over blend and lose the details.

I also stamped images on the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper with Sahara Sand ink, and simply cut out the leaf die cuts from Shimmery White (without stamping any images) and used Granny Apple Green ink to add a watercolor wash.

For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed in white.  Then, for the center die, I sponged a little White Craft ink on the sides to imitate the look of a chalkboard.

Final touches were some Frosted Epoxy Droplets and a bow from Basic Black Baker’s Twine.  Love it!
