#TGIFC458 — Color Challenge

By | February 2, 2024

Happy Friday!!! It’s a new month, so that means we have a new color challenge at TGIF Challenges, including Bubble Bath, Real Red, and Very Vanilla. Doesn’t this combo make you think of Valentine’s Day? It sure did for me!

In fact, I realized that Sale-A-Bration is already half over, so I decided to pull out a bunch of the cute Sale-A-Bration products I’ve been collecting and use them to make a Valentine card.

My card features the following Sale-A-Bration products: Detailed Dogwood Cling Stamp Set (page 15), Heartfelt Hellos Cling Stamp Set (page 10), and Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder (page 14). All these items are available to earn for free with qualifying purchases of either $50 or $100 USD. (The embossing folder is part of a bundle that comes with another stamp set that I didn’t use on this card.)

I started by stamping the Detailed Dogwoods flowers with Jet Black Stazon ink on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper so I could watercolor the images with Bubble Bath, Real Red, and Crumb Cake ink. (I threw in a neutral color of Crumb Cake for the leaves.) Then, I fussy cut the images and stamped a few extra flowers with Real Red ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.

Tips for watercoloring: Stamp with Jet Black Stazon ink anytime you’re watercoloring, because it won’t bleed when mixed with water. Paint in small sections, one to two petals at a time, to allow the colors to blend together, and then be sure to leave a little “white” space to show the translucent beauty of watercoloring.

In the background, I used a Blending Brush to add Bubble Bath ink to a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock, and then I dry embossed it with the Softly Sophisticated Embossing Folder. Isn’t the texture gorgeous?

I also added a few Notes of Nature leaf die-cuts from Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Next, I embossed the Heartfelt Hello greeting in white on Real Red Cardstock and cut it out with a Perennial Postage Die. I also stamped the dots from the Detailed Dogwood Stamp set with Real Red ink on Bubble Bath Cardstock to layer behind the sentiment.

To finish the card, I added a Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon bow (this is a carryover item from the Holiday Catalog) and some Bubble Bath Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

On the inside, I used another Detailed Dogwood stamp to create a patterned border, and then added a few more of the stamped flowers. Note that the stamped flowers from this set coordinate with the Petal Park Builder Punch! Easy, peasy to punch them out rather than fussy cutting.

Be sure to check out all the designers’ projects this week on the TGIF Challenges Blog. Then, create one of your own and add it at the bottom of that post using the Linky Tool to enter our challenge. I can’t wait to see what you create!

Absolutely beautiful! You are incredibly talented. Thanks for highlighting the small red flower – I was thinking, where did that come from! And it’s great that the Petal Park Builder punch coordinates with it.
