It’s sketch week at TGIF Challenges! I love a good sketch, don’t you? It makes designing a snap. For my project, I used the Joy of Noel Bundle and several coordinating products from the Joy of Christmas Suite. It’s definitely my favorite from the September-December Mini Catalog.
I love watercoloring (big surprise!!!) More specifically, I love stamping an image and quietly sitting in my craft room painting away. If fact sometimes, when I really need to unwind, it’s the perfect therapy, and I purposely look for a stamp set in my stash that has detailed coloring.
I stamped the holly/berry images for this card with Stazon ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock. Maybe I’m late to the party, but Thick Cardstock does work better for watercoloring than regular Basic White. It’s much more forgiving and less prone to pill. I like to paint in small sections, starting with a light wash, and then adding more concentrated color in shadows.
I also cut some of the pine die-cuts from Thick Basic White Cardstock and watercolored them with Old Olive and Shaded Spruce ink. The combination of those two colors is really beautiful!
This card also features several sheets of the Joy of Christmas Designer Series Paper. I love any pack that includes woodgrain images. The colors in this pack are very traditional and gorgeous. I used another sheet (not on my card) as reference for painting the stamped images.
This card features a few die-cuts from the Online Exclusive — Silver & Gold 12″ x 12″ Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper. I’ve already ordered more, because this stuff is GREAT for holiday cards!
I also dug out some pretty Real Red gems from the Loose Holly Gems & Sequins pack. They are sooo pretty!
