#TGIFC424 — Sketch Challenge

By | June 9, 2023

Welcome to a new TGIF Sketch Challenge. I love sketches! It makes designing cards so easy. For this card, I used a combination of products including the Patchwork Pieces Dies (for the background), Timeless Arrangements Bundle (for the flowers), and Bottled Happiness Stamp Set (for the bottle.) I also used the Go To Greetings Stamp Set for the sentiment, because I always need birthday cards. I make them for family, friends, and co-workers.

My color combination was inspired by the one I used earlier this week; I just expanded it a bit. So this card includes Pretty Peacock, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Soft Sea Foam, Bubble Bath, and Fresh Freesia. The additional colors gave me more options for contrast and layering.

I really love the Patchwork Pieces Dies and wanted to play with them. But, I also wanted to try something different than just using cardstock. I thought it would be fun to cut pieces from three different sheets of Vellum colored with the alcohol/marker technique. I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to randomly draw on each sheet, one with Pretty Peacock, one with Lost Lagoon, and one with Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Markers. Then, I blended the ink with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and a paint brush. (I use an old paint brush for this technique instead of my nice Water Painters, because I don’t want to ruin my Water Painters.) Afterwards, I pieced the different colors together and adhered them to a layer of Basic White Cardstock with an Adhesive Sheet.

Next, I stamped the flowers with Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon ink (by inking up part of the stamp with Fresh Freesia and then using a Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write Marker to add ink directly to the stamp. I also stamped the leaves with Soft Sea Foam, Lost Lagoon, and Pretty Peacock ink. Afterwards, I colored them with Stampin’ Blends Markers.

For some of the Timeless Arrangements die-cuts, I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to shade them.
