#TGIFC380 – Color Challenge

By | August 5, 2022

Welcome to a new TGIF Color Challenge! This month, we have a bright, beautiful color combination of Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, and Melon Mambo. I love bold, happy colors like this, they just put a smile on my face:)

My card is fairly simple, but sometimes that’s what you need to do! It features the Happiness Abounds Bundle and one of my favorite Sale-A-Bration products, the Silver & Gold 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. I love it, because it goes with just about everything, and you can earn it for FREE with a qualifying purchase of $50 USD from now until August 31, 2022 (while supplies last.)

To create my background, I tore Masking Paper and placed it on the top layer of Silver DSP and then used a Blending Brush to add the three colors of ink. I love how the silver lines show through.

Next, I stamped the images on Basic White Cardstock with Memento ink and colored the flowers with Stampin; Blends Markers. When using these markers, it’s very important to use Memento ink so it doesn’t smear with the alcohol based markers.

I have to admit that I cheated a little and added some additional marker colors to my flowers so I could blend to super light tones. I paired Bermuda Bay with Pool Party, Melon Mango with Flirty Flamingo, and Pumpkin Pie with Pale Papaya. I prefer to start with the darkest marker and go over the shadows and deepest parts of the flower, such as the center and where the petals overlap. Then, I progressively add lighter colors, each time going over the transition areas to blend the colors. When I get to the lightest color, I like to go over the entire area and then use a Color Lifter marker to blend to white. Lastly, I go back and add more ink to the darkest areas.

After stamping and embossing the sentiment in white on Basic Black Cardstock, I fussy cut it and placed it over a bow tied with Simply Elegant Trim. Since the knot was a little bulky, I layered two strips of Dimensionals to make sure it would lay flat.

Be sure to check out all the designers’ projects this week on the TGIF Challenges Blog and then use the Linky Tool at the bottom of that post to enter our challenge. I can’t wait to see what you create!
