Happy Friday!!! This week, TGIF Challenges has a sketch challenge that’s really different. I particularly like the strips in the background with their varying heights. I don’t think I would have thought of a layout like that on my own, so it really makes me appreciate these types of challenges.
For my project, I used my absolute FAVORITE suite in the entire new catalog: Expressions In Ink. I love EVERYTHING about it, the beautiful DistINKtive Artistically Inked Cling Stamp Set, intricate Artistic Dies, gorgeous Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper with its gold foil highlights, and coordinating Ephemera Pack. You can see the entire suite on pages 96 and 97 of the catalog. Purchase the stamps and dies in a bundle for 10% off or purchase the entire suite with one easy item number: 155459.
DistINKtive stamps are sooo cool! Literally just ink them up and stamp, and they produce all the incredible variation in shade shown on the flowers and leaves on this card. It’s SO EASY! No need for any fancy techniques. For the largest flower, I stamped with Polished Pink ink and then stamped the splatter in the center with Magenta Madness ink. Afterwards, I added a few sequins from the Ephemera Pack. That pack includes die-cuts that are gold foil on one side and white on the other, just perfect for any project.
In the background, I cut the strips from a sheet of Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper. The gold foil on that paper is stunning, but I also really love the color combination. It’s just so different from anything else I’ve used. One of the first things I like to do when I get a new pack of paper is look on the back, read the list of coordinating colors, and pull out all the matching ink pads. This pack includes Polished Pink, Magenta Madness, Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen, Shaded Spruce, Mint Macaron, Just Jade, and Pear Pizzazz. I think all those greens look absolutely amazing together.
This card was actually very simple to make. It’s mostly just layering die-cuts and stamped images. I stamped the smaller flowers with Magenta Madness, the leaves with Evening Evergreen and Just Jade ink, and then heat embossed the sentiment in white. The die-cut circle in the background is dry embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder. Lastly, to add a touch of gold, I unraveled some gold Simply Elegant Trim and used a few of the pieces to add a delicate knot on the left side.
I’m really looking forward to using this suite again and again. In fact, I think I’m going to use it for my next online class!
