#TGIFC278 — Inspiration Challenge

By | August 21, 2020

Happy Friday! Time for a new TGIF Challenge!!! This week, we have an inspiration challenge from the sketch below. Inspiration challenges are fun, because you can take any part of the sketch … the colors, the layout, the flowers, the jar, the heart … and use it to inspire your project.

I decided to use the colors (pink and black) and general layout of the sketch (center focus with symmetrical leaves on both sides) as my inspiration. In fact, I grabbed just about every “pink” stamp set in my craft room, including Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose, Flirty Flamingo, and Magenta Madness (sort of a hot pink, with some purple hues mixed in.)

My card features the Forever Fern Stamp Set and Forever Flourishing Dies (purchase in a bundle to save 10%.) These stamps are so incredibly gorgeous!!! It seems like every time I use them, the project turns out beautiful. It’s one of those stamp sets that just click with me.

Tip: Forever Fern is a Distinktive stamp set. Distinktive stamp sets have a special texture that give them added depth and dimension in a single step, creating photo-realistic images.  I’ve learned that it really helps to prepare my stamp pads properly, in order to get the best results with this type of stamp, especially when I’m using new, fairly wet stamp pads. I like to take the back side of a plastic spoon and gently push any excess ink to the edges of my ink pad. This allows me to ink up my stamp in the middle and get a nice, clear image.

I stamped the images multiple times with the “pink” stamp pads noted above, and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also added some additional dies cut from coordinating cardstock.

For the background, I used Sponge Daubers to add both Blushing Bride and Petal Pink ink to the center of a layer of Whisper White Cardstock, and then I dry embossed them with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.

That’s it … fairly clean and simple for me! I find that these stamps are so pretty that I don’t need much in the way of embellishments. I just added a few Champagne Basic Rhinestone Jewels.

So how do you interpret this inspiration challenge? I’d love to see what you come up with! Click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog and take a look at the other designers’ projects, and then add yours at the bottom of the post.
