Stampin’ Fancy Friday – Black & White with Radiant Sunflowers

Hello Friends and welcome to a new Stampin’ Fancy Friday. For September, our theme is “Black & White.” I decided to take a product that’s typically very colorful, the new Radiant Sunflowers Bundle, and challenge myself to make a black & white card. I thought it would be fun to try to make something totally out-of-the-box.

My cards are usually quite colorful. I love watercoloring and coloring with Stampin’ Blends Markers. So this was a BIG challenge for me. Since I couldn’t per se “color,” I decided to enhance the die-cuts and background papers with small details using both a Journaling Pen and White Gel Pen. I always loved doodling in school, and this felt very similar!

I drew small black dots around the center of the sunflowers and then added white details to the center die-cuts.

In the background, I used some black & white prints from the Beautiful Ordinary Life and Paper Medley Mix In Designer Series Paper packs. I drew black lines on random leaves and added black dots to random white dots.

I cut the banner from Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock (light side) and then dry embossed it with the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder. Afterwards, I lightly sanded it with a sanding block. I also used Basic Black Two-Tone Cardstock for the border at the top, sentiment, leaves (Fern & Flora die-cuts) and flower centers. I love the subtle variation in tone.

For the bow, I unraveled some Black & White & Gold Baker’s Twine (retired) to remove the gold strands. Then, I used the remaining wavy black and white strands to tie the triple bow.

Last detail was to add some white Dreamy Flowers.

Every project doesn’t need to include color. Sometimes simple black & white can be stunning and quite effective.
