#TGIFC268 — Technique Challenge

By | June 12, 2020

Hello and Happy Friday! It’s almost the weekend!!! Yippee! How are you enjoying the new catalog? I’m just loving all the new, fun and inspirational products. Nothing like a bunch of new toys to spark your imagination, right?

This week’s TGIF Challenge focuses on using a trimmed down front panel in order to reveal a little peek inside. This is one of my favorite “fun fold” techniques. It’s super easy and just a little different from the norm to change things up a bit.

For my card, I used the brand new Blossoms In Bloom Bundle, including the Blossoms In Bloom Photopolymer Stamps and Many Layered Blossoms Dies. Oh boy, I just love both of these items, because they are super feminine and pretty. Plus, stamp set has a bunch of great, all-occasion sentiments! I have lots of ideas brewing in my head.

To create this card, I trimmed down the front panel 2″ and only adhered the layered dies to the top portion of the card. I cut both large dies from Shimmery White Cardstock, so I could watercolor the bottom layer with Roco Rose ink. This provides a subtle variegation in color.

Then I added a layer of vellum covering the entire top portion of the card and extended it down to fit underneath the overhanging die. Prior to adhering the die, I flipped it over and marked the outline of the bottom portion of the die on the vellum with a pencil and trimmed it down with scissors.

On the inside of the card, I used some In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Then, I added some Tasteful Labels Dies to both the front and inside of the card. (That is an AWESOME set of labels!!!) Final touch was a little wisp of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.

Check out the TGIF Challenges Blog to see all the designers’ “trimmed down” cards this week. Then, create one of your own and link it to that blog post to enter our challenge. I’d LOVE to see what you create!

Have a wonderful day and enjoy your weekend:)
