Happy Friday! This week at TGIF Challenges, we have an inspiration challenge including the whole Best Dressed Suite!
I have to be honest, this suite didn’t originally appealed to me much. But then, I bought a couple items when I saw this challenge was coming up, and the more I used them, the more I fell in love. Now, I’m completely crazy about the whole suite! Those little purse dies are freaking adorable, but my favorite products are the gorgeous Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) and those cute Best Dressed Tassels!!!
My sweet sister is having a BIG birthday coming up! I can’t tease too much, because I’m a little older. But, I definitely wanted to do something VERY special for her. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.
For her birthday card, I simply fussy cut some of the gorgeous flowers and leaves from the Best Dressed DSP. No need to color, because they are already printed that way!
For the sentiment and layering, I used two early release products coming out in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog: the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set (149471) and Ornate Layers Dies (152726.) Both are part of the Ornate Garden Suite that will be available to purchase on April 1, 2020!!!
I embossed the sentiment in white on Basic Gray Cardstock, and then cut the label underneath using the All Dressed Up Dies. I used one of the splotch stamps from Dressed To Impress and then used an Aqua Painter to slightly blur the image.
My layers also included some of the beautiful So Very Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper (free with a $50 qualifying purchase during Sale-A-Bration) and Best Dressed DSP that I embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
Finishing touches included some Woven Threads Sequins and Blackberry Bliss Nature’s Twine.
For the inside of the card, I again used the Ornate Layers Dies, as well as the Sale-A-Bration Happy Birthday To You stamp set and retired Large Numbers Dies.
Of course, I just HAD to give my sister a pretty box too! I had so much fun creating this box. I seriously didn’t have much of a plan when I started, but I’m so happy with how it turned out!
To create those 3D flowers on the top, I fussy cut a bunch of flowers from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ DSP. Then, I worked each one with a Bone Folder and my fingers, rolling the edges and really breaking down the paper fibers. I was watching TV at the time, so I have no idea how long it took. I just kept at it until I realized I had something really cool looking.
I adhered the flower layers with Mini Glue Dots and then attached them to the top layer of the box with hot glue.
In retrospect, I wish I would have created a belly band to slip off the box and make it easier to open, but like I said, I really didn’t have a plan … so next time … sorry sis! 🙂
The tag is actually made from the perfume bottle die! I cut it out of Whisper White Cardstock, stamped the splotch with Basic Gray, and then painted over it with an Aqua Painter to blur the image. Then, I embossed the sentiment from Dressed To Impress in white on Basic Gray Cardstock and cut it out.
For the tassel, I used both Light and Dark Purple Posy, as well as a Light Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the ends. I also used the Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the Silver Metallic Ribbon that goes around the box.
I can’t wait for my sister to get these!!! She LOVES purple, so I know she’s going to love them!!!
