#TGIFC244 — Fancy Foil

By | December 27, 2019

The TGIF Challenge this week is a product spotlight focusing on Fancy Foil! Stampin’ Up! carries several colors of metallic foil sheets, which are very reasonably priced at only $5.00 for a pack of two 12″ x 12″ sheets. In addition, you can purchase the beautiful Noble Peacock Foil Sheets pack (149495) for $10.00, which includes a pack of six 12″ x 12″ sheets in three colors (Blueberry Bushel, Old Olive, and Pretty Peacock.)

For my card, I decided to design a fun New Year’s shaker card with colored foil! Did you know that you can color foil with Stampin’ Blends Markers?

To create this card, I started by using the Sip & Celebrate Dies to cut the two champagne glasses out of a layer of Black Foil. Then, I embossed the glasses on Window Sheets to build the shaker.

Before adhering the shaker together, I used Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the Silver Foil underneath the glasses. Tips: I had to remind myself that the contents of the glasses would be level, even though the glasses themselves are tipped. That makes it look a little more realistic.

Stampin’ Up! sells Foam Adhesive Strips, which makes it super easy to build shaker cards! Simply build an enclosure with the strips, pour in the shaker elements (sequins for me), and adhere the layers together. Voila!

I added a cute flower on the bottom of one of the glasses, using the new Small Bloom Punch. You can earn this punch for free with a $100 purchase during Saleabration staring January 3, 2020.

I punched three flowers from Flirty Flamingo Cardstock, then worked the petals with a Bone Folder and my fingers until the Cardstock split in two. Then, I gently pulled the cardstock apart. Afterwards, I had six layers that I adhered together to create this delicate flower.

OK confession time … I was SO BEHIND this week that I created this card on Christmas! After taking photos, I looked at it again and decided it would have looked better with a few sparkly sequins coming out of the glasses. But, by the time I made the enhancement, it was too late to re-take my photos. Which version do you like better?
