#TGIFC240 – Autumn Leaves

By | November 29, 2019

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! Hope you enjoyed a great celebration yesterday with friends and family and are recovering from too much turkey and pumpkin pie. It’s Black Friday here in the states. I’m not much of a shopper … honestly, I’d rather shop online and stay in my craft room away from all the crowds. Ha!

Anyway, it is Friday, and that means a new inspiration challenge over at the TGIF Challenges Blog. This week, the challenge focuses on Autumn Leaves.

I tried to think outside the box for this challenge by using products not typically associated with Autumn. I used the All-Around Wreath Dies (typically associated with Christmas) and some new designer series paper (geared towards Spring) to create a wreath busting with layers of colorful Autumn leaves.

To create my wreath, I cut one layer from Come To Gather Designer Series Paper (Merry Merlot print), one layer from the new Saleabration Lily Impression Designer Series Paper (Grapefruit Grove print — see below for more info), and one layer from Shimmery White Cardstock. I watercolored the Shimmery White layer with both Terracotta Tile and Grapefruit Grove ink and then splattered it with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker. Afterwards, I added die cuts including Early Espresso twigs and both Terracotta Tile and Grapefruit Grove leaves.

The background and wreath on this card include a preview of two new products that will be available to purchase or earn for free on January 3, 2020. The first is the Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper which you can earn for FREE during Saleabration with a $50 purchase! One side of the paper has impressionistic painting of lilies and the other side has artistic paint stroke designs, including the Bermuda Bay/Pool Party/Pretty Peacock design shown. (I used another sheet with a Grapefruit Grove print for a wreath layer.) Then, I used a second new product — the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the background paper. The embossing folder coordinates with a GORGEOUS new suite called Tropical Oasis. (Stay tuned for more on that. I purchased the whole suite!)

To finish my wreath, I added some Woven Threads Sequins and a bow tied with frayed ribbons, including some Grapefruit Grove Nature’s Twine, Terracotta Tile Scalloped Ribbon, and Cajun Craze Come To Gather Ribbon.

Lastly, I embossed a greeting using the Gathered Together stamp set and added some Pretty Peacock splatters to my card base with a Stampin’ Write Marker. (Simply use the cap to flick the brush end towards the paper.)

Be sure to check out all the TGIF Designers’ amazing projects this week for more Autumn Leaves inspiration.

Enjoy the rest of your long weekend and happy creating!!!
