Happy Friday! This week, TGIF Challenges has a theme after my own heart … paper flowers!!! I love creating pretty paper flowers with punches or die cuts. What’s even better is that there are some great new products coming out in June that are PERFECT for this challenge. And, it just so happens that I just received a bunch of them.
So get ready for a fun preview of products coming in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, which goes live on June 4, 2019. I think it’s my favorite catalog to date, and that’s saying a lot. You’re just going to love it!
For my project, I decided to create a gift box using the new Perennial Essence Suite of products; including the Floral Essence stamp set, Perennial Flower Punch, Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (DSP), and Perennial Essence Vellum Cardstock.
I just about died and went to heaven when I saw this GORGEOUS designer series paper for the first time. It’s so pretty, you could literally frame it. It’s all hand painted in what I would call a “Monet” style. (Some of the sheets remind me of his water lily paintings.)
The flowers are stamped and embossed in white on a sheet of the Perennial Essence DSP, as well as two colors of the coordinating 12 x 12 vellum sheets. After punching out the petals, I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to add subtle shading on the back of the vellum. I also trimmed down some of the punches to create flower “buds.” Then, prior to assembling, I curled the petals with a bone folder to make them look 3-D.
For the flower centers, I used a Magnolia Memory Die cut from another sheet of Perennial Essence DSP. Then, I added some Bird Ballad Trinkets on top.
For the leaves, I stamped some with Mossy Meadow ink on Perennial Essence Vellum, and then punched them out with the Leaf Punch. For others, I left them plain, and simply cut out the vellum with Magnolia Memory Die Cuts and the Leaf Punch. As I was working with this gorgeous colored vellum, I noticed that if I flipped it over, it was colored slightly different on the other side. Look closely at the green vellum leaves and you’ll notice two different shades. Very cool!
Lastly, I used some of the new Stitched Nested Labels Dies in the background and for the label. (The sentiment is a portion of one of the Floral Essence stamps. I used a Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the two words I wanted to stamp.)
I know I threw a lot of new products into this project, but I was like a kid in a candy store, just wanting to taste everything.
Be sure to click over to the TGIF Challenges Blog to check out all the designers’ projects for this week. Those talented ladies are bound to dream up some amazing stuff!
Have a wonderful day!

You’re a lady after my own heart, I live making paper flowers and am also in live with that DSP.
I think the papers are more Monet in feel than Van Gogh – either way they are stunning, and I live what you have done with them.
Thank you so much!
Those vellum flowers are gorgeous!!!!
