Welcome to the January Stamping Sunday Blog Hop. This month, our theme is love, which is perfect considering Valentine’s Day is coming soon. Did you know that Valentine’s Day the second most popular holiday for card making, right behind Christmas? I think that’s wonderful, because I love spreading love and happiness.

For my cards, I used products from the Awash In Beauty Suite Collection from pages 66-67 of the Annual Catalog. While the new JA Mini Catalog is getting lots of attention right now, I wanted to remind you that there are still some gorgeous products in the Annual Catalog that suit numerous occasions. My cards feature the True Beauty Bundle, including the True Beauty Cling Stamp Set, Organic Beauty Dies, and coordinating Awash In Beauty Designer Series Paper.

For both cards, I watercolored backgrounds and then fussy cut flowers from the Awash In Beauty DSP to layer on my cards. The only stamping is the sentiments, which are perfect for Valentine’s Day.

For the first card, I watercolored the background with Merry Merlot and Blushing Bride ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock. Typically, I never watercolor on Basic White, but the DSP is printed on a white background, so my normal “go to” paper (Shimmery White or watercolor paper) looked too yellow. Therefore, I thought I’d give it a try.

Watercoloring on Basic White is very different; the colors absorb very quickly and they don’t blend easily. But I learned that if I painted quickly and used a lot of water, it worked! After the paper dried, I added splatter with both a Water Painter and a Merry Merlot Stampin’ Write Marker.

For the sentiments on both cards, I used Beautiful Shapes Dies. The final touch was some Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon and 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds in Polished Pink.

My next card is similar, but with a different layout and colors.

This time, I watercolored with Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock. I used Thick Cardstock on both cards for the watercoloring because it’s a little more durable than regular Basic White.

To break up the colors, I also added Mossy Meadow die-cuts behind the flowers on both cards.

For the embellishments on this card, I used some new Iridescent Pastel Gems from the JA Mini Catalog.

This suite of products is so beautiful!!! Hope you liked my cards. Be sure to continue on through the rest of the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop for more inspiration.
