Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team – Back To Back Blooms

By | February 5, 2021

Hello! As a member of the 2021 Artisan Design Team, I occasionally have the honor of contributing to the Stampin’ Up! Corporate Facebook page. Today, I’ll be sharing two of those projects, featuring the Back To Back Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set and Happy Thoughts Cling Stamp Set.

Back To Back Blooms:

The Back To Back Blooms Photopolymer Stamp Set is a reversible stamp set, which means you can stamp both sides. One side has detailed images and the other side has solid, allowing you to color the images. Since the stamps are reversible, the opposite image isn’t intended to fit exactly into the detailed image. I consider it more of a free-form artistic way of coloring the images.

Happy Thoughts:

The Happy Thoughts Cling Stamp Set is a super versatile set filled with all-occasions greetings. I can already tell that it’s a stamp set I’m going to be using over and over!

Happy Thoughts Card:

For both of my cards, I used a “watercolor stamping” technique to stamp the solid side of the stamp, and then stamped and embossed the detail flowers in white over the original image.

For the largest flower, I inked up half the stamp with Flirty Flamingo ink and the other half with Petal Pink ink. Then, I used a Water Painter to brush clear water directly onto the stamp prior to stamping on Shimmery White Cardstock. Next, I inked up the dots with Poppy Parade ink, brushed the stamp with clear water, and stamped in the center of the flower. Once dry, I embossed the detail flower in white over the solid watercolor and cut it out by hand.

I used a similar method to stamp the medium flowers with 1) Poppy Parade ink and Flirty Flamingo ink and 2) just Poppy Parade ink; the small flowers with 1) Pumpkin Pie ink and 2) Flirty Flamingo ink; and the leaves with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow ink.

I use this “watercolor stamping” technique a lot, because it ends up looking painted with very little effort.

The rest of the card is fairly simple. I used a layer of Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper for the background, dry embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Again, the inner artist in me just adores the brushstrokes on this paper. It’s a super easy way to add an artistic flair with no work at all.

Happy Birthday Card:

My next card is very similar, except this time I created a collage of geometric squares and rectangle dies with the Stitched Shape and Stitched Rectangle Dies. I also had fun using just about every image in the Back To Back Blooms Stamp Set!

Both of my cards include Artistry Blooms Sequins, because … why not? Sequins make everything better, right?

Have a great day and happy crafting!
