Irresistible Blooms Thank You

By | May 30, 2023

It has been a busy month! My family was recently in Southern California to watch my son’s graduation, and we finally got the opportunity to meet my daugther-in-law’s mom and family! Sam and Josie just got married last November, but due to various circumstances, the parents kept missing each other. The kids’ wedding was small (at the courthouse), so Josie’s mom decided to host a small family reception last weekend to celebrate both the wedding and graduation!

The happy newlyweds (above) and with Josie’s mom, Jennifer (below.)

A super yummy cake with strawberries and whipped cream frosting!

Josie’s grandparents (97 and 104 years old!!!) Her grandpa will turn 105 in a few months!

Jennifer has lots of sisters! I can relate having two myself:)

Jennifer very kindly gave me a huge box filled with colorful rice paper AND chocolate!!! (I think Josie shared my love of crafting and paper products, and Jennifer figured I loved chocolate because my son is a chocoholic!!!) I was overwhelmed by her thoughtfulness. So, I wanted to make a really nice thank you card to express our gratitude for everything: the reception, the gifts, and their warm welcome of Sam into their family. Also, I really wanted to use some of the rice paper on my thank you.

I picked out four sheets that coordinated with Melon Mambo, Petal Pink, Lemon Lolly, and Basic White. Then, I simply tore the sheets into strips. To decorate my card, I used the Irresistible Blooms stamps and coordinating Dies. I even cut the circle die from some of the leftover rice paper!

I embossed the flowers on Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper in white and then watercolored them with Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink, and Lemon Lolly ink. I also embossed some of the leaves in white on Vellum Paper and cut out a few others from Basic White Cardstock.

The greeting is embossed in gold and fussy cut. Then to finish the card, I added some Sweet Sorbet Metallic Woven Ribbon and Melon Mambo Glossy Dots.

I think Jennifer will enjoy seeing the rice paper on her card. And, my head is spinning with other ideas! I absolutely love the texture of this paper. I feel so blessed to have it in my stash.

What a great way to celebrate our new extended family. Congratulations Sam and Josie and best wishes!

Loved seeing these pictures of Sam and Josie and family!
Your card is lovely…..and it reminded me that years ago, Stampin Up had a line of paper called Mulberry paper. I looked in my file and still have some. Do you remember that?
