Color Fusers Blog Hop for October 2019

By | October 7, 2019

Hello and welcome to the October Color Fusers Blog Hop! This month, we are featuring a color combination that’s perfect for Halloween, including Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze and Basic Black. When I first saw these colors, I immediately thought of festive treats!!!

I created two boxes filled with candy to give my son and his sweet girlfriend for Halloween. (I have something else planned for my daughter.) Since my kids are young adults, this is a perfect way to celebrate and make them feel special.

I created the boxes using the Perfect Parcels Dies and Monster Bash Designer Series Paper. As you can see, they are a perfect size to fit 12 snack-sized candy bars.

Tips: 1) I like using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the boxes. It’s forgiving enough to make slight adjustments, yet strong enough for a durable hold. 2) I also like to sponge a little ink on the inside flap, so the bright colors on the opposite side of the designer series paper on the flap don’t show when fully assembled. 3) Finally, I sponged ink all around the edges of the box to cover the white core that sometimes shows when folding designer series paper. Plus, it looks a little more spooky that way!

For the outside of the boxes, I used the Spooktacular Bash bundle of stamps, dies, and coordinating products. I stamped the images on Shimmery White Cardstock with Stazon ink so I could watercolor them. I used watered-down Memento ink, which is water-soluable, to paint the gray tones. I also used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add splatters to some of the tags.

I used the Hand-Lettered Pros Dies to cut out the word “BOO” from Black Foil. I also used Black Foil to make a belly band to go around one of the boxes and make it easy to slip off all the decorations and open the box.

The Ornate Frames Dies are so pretty and versatile. I’ll be using all these fun pieces long after Halloween.

I was excited to dig up ribbons in all four colors to use on my boxes, including Scalloped Edge Ribbon (Basic Black), Nature’s Twine (Grapefruit Grove), trimmed Scalloped Linen Ribbon (Terracotta Tile), and Come To Gather Ribbon (Cajun Craze).

On the second box, I added a little texture to the Grapefruit Grove belly band by embossing it with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder.

Don’t you just love that little mummy???
