Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for December 2022. This month, our color combination comes from the neutrals collection, which is way out of my wheelhouse. I typically choose bright, vibrant colors, but that’s the beauty of challenges. They force me out of my comfort zone.
My card features a sneak peek of the fantastic new Fancy Flora Suite Collection on pages 14 to 17 of the upcoming January-June Mini Catalog. This suite is loaded with coordinating products including the Two-Tone Flora Stamps and Dies (bundle for 10% off) and Something Fancy Stamps used on my project. (There are also amazing coordinating Something Fancy Dies, which you are going to die for, but I didn’t use them on this project.)
I really loved playing with this new suite and with these colors!!! All my flowers are tones of Merry Merlot. The stamps involve two-step stamping, so for the solid “fill” stamp, I stamped off anywhere from one to four times to really lighten the color. Then, I added more ink to the centers with a Sponge Dauber for a nice varigetion. Before stamping, I lightly spritzed the stamp for a watercolored, blended look.
I confess that I’m not very good at lining up two-step stamps, sooo the Stamparatus to the rescue! It’s one of my favorite tools that I’ve been using more and more lately. It makes it so easy to line up the stamps perfectly. Here’s one tip, focus on aligning the center of the flowers.
For the smaller flowers, I stamped with Merry Merlot (full force this time) and then stamped the centers with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
The leaves are embossed in white on Smoky Slate Cardstock and the sentiment (from the Something Fancy Stamp Set) is embossed in black on Smoky Slate.
The Two-Tone Flora Dies include dies to cut out all the flowers and leaves, and the gorgeous background die that I cut from Basic White!!! In fact, when I was almost finished with my card, I felt like it needed something. I had just watched the video from OnStage in Vienna, Austria, including a bunch of amazing tips about the new products from the JJ Mini Catalog, and in the Fancy Flora presentation, the demonstrator cut up pieces of that background die! So that’s what prompted me to cut out the small flowers and detailed flower from Smoky Slate!
I mixed in a few current products in my card as well. The background includes some Gingham Cottage DSP and I also added some Metallic Mesh Ribbon. Since I didn’t have Merry Merlot embellishments, I colored some red Festive Pearls with a Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend Marker. I think it’s close enough. 🙂
I hope this inspires you to take a look at the Fancy Flora Suite Collection when you get a copy of the new JJ Mini Catalog, not that you really need encouragement. The suite pretty much speaks for itself.
