Catch A Snowflake!

By | November 6, 2018

I’m so excited!  Tomorrow, my mom and I are getting on the plane to Orlando to attend the 30th anniversary Stampin’ Up! On Stage Event!!!  It will be three days of fun, inspiration, excitement, and connecting with friends.  We’ll get to see the new Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogs, attend classes, play with new products, and see tons of creative examples.  I’m all packed, including lots of swaps that I’ll be sharing in the next month.  I promise to take lots of pictures and share!

OK, back to business!  This month, Stampin’ Up! is offering a great limited-time suite of products called Catch A Snowflake.  You won’t find these products in the Annual or Holiday catalogs, and they are only available to purchase while supplies last, or through November 30th, whichever comes first.

You can download a flyer of the Catch A Snowflake products, including photos and item numbers HERE.

I have been dying to break out these products and give them a try!  This weekend, I squeezed out a little time after finishing my swaps to whip up a card, and I promise there will be more because I’m a huge snowflake fan.

I selected vintage colors for my card, including Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and gold.  I love this combination!!!

Not only did I use the new Snow Is Glistening stamp set and Snowfall Thinlits Dies, but I used the new White Velveteen Paper for several of my snowflakes.  This paper is thin enough to cut with your Big Shot, and the texture is just gorgeous.

For the tree, I stamped and embossed it in gold on Vellum Paper.  Then I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut it out slightly larger than the layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock underneath.  I like how that makes the snowflakes look like they are extending beyond the tree.

Keeping with the vintage look, I added a lot of sponging to this card (including the layer of designer series paper in order to cover up the white core.)  I also added a border die cut using the Petals and More Thinlits Dies.

As a final accent, I added some Red Rhinestone Jewels to my card.  To darken them a little to match the rest of the card, I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend to color the tops.  (You can earn a free pack of these jewels from me!  See below for details.)

Did you happen to notice the background designer series paper?  It’s from the Dashing Along Designer Series Paper that hostesses could earn for free in October.  (A good friend was kind enough to share her pack with me!)  But, the good news is that it is now available to purchase!!!  (Item 149903 for $11.00 USD/$15.00 CAD)  Stampin’ Up! made the decision to bring the Dashing Along DSP back because of the following:

Sales for some products from the Holiday Catalog (see below) have exceeded Stampin’ Up!’s forecast and are continuing strong, resulting in a large number of backorders.  As a result, Stampin’ Up! decided to shut these items off effective immediately, since these products cannot be sent from the manufacturer in time for the holidays.
