Case The Cattie – Christmas Pinecones

By | October 22, 2021

Hello! Last week, Stampin’ Up! shared a great tip on how to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) the Catalog. Simply pick a project you love from one of the catalogs, and then use the colors, layout, embellishments, stamping technique, or any other favorite aspect of the project to inspire your own, unique project.

Today, some Artisan Design Team friends and I want you to know this is a method we use too – it gets the creativity flowing! So we’re sharing projects on Instagram based on our favorite Stampin’ Up! Catalog samples. This is going to be so much fun!

I decided to pick a project to CASE from page 63 of the July-December Mini Catalog featuring the Thinking Thanks stamp set. I particularly love the big die-cut in the background and the ribbon under the large sentiment.

This is the time of year when I need to be making LOTS of Christmas cards, so I decided to “selectively edit” the card into a holiday-themed one. I used a similar layout, but switched up the the background to Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper, the large die-cut to Christmas Pinecones Dies, and the greeting to Holly Jolly Wishes.

I have to admit that I was also inspired by some projects created by my amazing Artisan friend Tammy Wilson. She created some gorgeous holiday cards with the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper that was available in August and September during Sale-A-Bration. I just adored her use of the specialty paper for the pinecones (and her colors!) Because my home remodel took up so much time this Summer, I felt like I never got a chance to use that beautiful Specialty Paper, so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. (In fact, I stashed away a bunch of that paper for my Christmas cards!)

I cut the background dies from Basic White and Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and the Pinecones from Crumb Cake Cardstock and Be Dazzling Specialty Paper.

I love how the sentiment and ribbon really stood out on the catalog version, so I purposely tried to pick bold colors for my CASE. Therefore, I stamped the sentiment on Polished Pink Cardstock and used Gold Shimmer Ribbon underneath. I really love how it turned out!
