Artisan Design Team — Sparkle of the Season

By | September 18, 2021

Hello and welcome! I’m Tami Hewlett from Stockton, California and today, I’m sharing the projects I created for the September Artisan Design Team Showcase. They feature the beautiful Sparkle of the Season Bundle from the July-December Mini Catalog. I’m absolutely in LOVE with this gorgeous bundle!

Be sure to check out the entire showcase on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page for tons of amazing inspiration. It’s such an honor to be a member of this talented group of designers!

I love holiday wreaths!!! So I was thrilled to see the Sparkle of the Season Bundle in the new catalog. It’s a super versatile set that I’ll be able to use through Fall and the holidays. It includes great layering pieces, and I particularly love the wreath stamp that’s just slightly smaller than two of the wreath die-cuts. It nestles inside the die-cuts to enhance the swirl effect, and it’s super pretty!

#156765 – Sparkle of the Season Bundle for $45.75 USD including the Sparkle of the Season Photopolymer Stamp Set and Seasonal Swirls Dies

Grateful Fall-Themed Card:

My first project is a Fall-themed card featuring the Harvest Meadow 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and the following color combination: Misty Moonlight, Soft Succulent, Blackberry Bliss, and Brushed Metallic Gold.

On both my cards, I created watercolored leaf die-cuts. Since the die-cuts are so small, I decided to watercolor the paper first and then selectively pick out areas with a lot of variation in color. I started by painting the front and back of the Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper with clear water. (Painting the back prevents curling.) Then, I squeezed my ink pads to pool ink in the lids (you could also add a few drops of re-inker) and used a Water Painter to randomly paint the watercolor paper. Since some of the colors don’t mix well (such as Blackberry Bliss and Soft Succulent), I tried to avoid mixing then too much on the paper.

This technique is so easy and allows you to pick your favorite areas to die-cut.

My wreaths on both cards include lots of layers. On this first one, I started by stamping and die-cutting two of the “leaf” stamps on Vellum Paper with Blackberry Bliss and Misty Moonlight ink. My wreath also includes Blackberry Bliss die-cuts, a Brushed Metallic wreath die-cut, a watercolored wreath die-cut, and lastly a Basic White wreath die-cut.

In the background, I used a couple sheets of the Harvest Meadow 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper to form a large banner with the Basic Border Dies. I also dry embossed a layer of Basic White Cardstock with the new Timber 3D Embossing Folder, and then roughed up the edges with my scissors and tattered a couple corners.

To complete the card, I added a bow tied with 1/4″ Gold Shimmer Ribbon, which I had cut in half vertically to make narrow strips, and added some Metallic Pearls.

Tip: To create the sentiment label, I used the Tailored Tag Punch to notch the ends.

Merry Christmas Holiday-Themed Card:

My second project is a Christmas card featuring the Heartwarming Hugs 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper and the following color combination: Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizzazz, Blackberry Bliss and Brushed Metallic Gold. While this is a little non-traditional, I love how it turned out!

I changed the layout for this card and added some Scalloped Contour die-cuts and Tasteful Labels banner die-cuts. I also used some of the pretty Seasonal Swirls die-cuts to add a side flourish.

I don’t know about you, but I love unraveling trims and ribbons to discover fun textures. I learned that when I unravel the Simply Elegant Trim, I’m left with these fun, kinky metallic strands that I layered on the right side of my card. After unraveling the pieces, I tied three strands in a knot and adhered them under the dies with some Mini Glue Dots.

Sparkle Of The Season is a fabulous bundle! I hope my projects, as well as my fellow Artisans’, have inspired you.

Have a wonderful and creative day!
